The pursuit of justice must never come at the expense of human dignity and fundamental rights. Criminal investigations play a pivotal role in maintaining law and order, yet they must always be conducted within the framework of human rights, due process, and the rule of law.

To foster meaningful dialogue on this vital subject, Justice and Universal Rights Initiative (JURI) proudly presents an insightful webinar on "Human Rights Standards in Criminal Investigations."

This session will explore the delicate balance between effective law enforcement and the protection of internationally recognized human rights. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the legal safeguards that govern criminal investigations, the importance of fair procedures, the prohibition of torture and arbitrary detention, and the responsibilities of investigators in ensuring justice is achieved ethically and lawfully.

We are honoured to welcome Adv Mian Abdul Mateen, a distinguished Advocate of the Lahore High Court, legal educator, and human rights advocate with extensive experience in criminal, constitutional, and public interest law. Drawing upon his professional expertise, he will share practical insights into the legal and ethical challenges surrounding criminal investigations in today's justice system.

The discussion will be moderated by Syed Abdul Fattah Shah, a final-year law student, writer, experienced moderator, and Hafiz-e-Qur'an, whose academic interests span law, literature, philosophy, and history.
