Proverbs
Chapter 15
A soft answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.
The tongue of the wise utters knowledge, but the mouth of fools puffs up favor.
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch over the righteous and the wicked.
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverse speech breaks the spirit.
A fool despises his father’s instruction, but he who heeds reproof is prudent.
In the house of the righteous is great treasure, but in the income of the wicked is trouble.
The lips of the wise spread knowledge, but the heart of fools is not.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the righteous is his delight.
The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but he loves those who walk in righteousness.
Reproof is severe for him who goes astray, and he who hates reproof will die.
When the grave and hell are open before the Lord, what is the heart of man?
A mocker hates reproof, and he will not enter the assembly of the wise.
A cheerful heart makes a man laugh, but sorrow of heart crushes him.
The heart of the understanding seeks knowledge, but the food of fools is support.
All the days of the afflicted are evil, but a cheerful heart always rejoices.
Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure with trouble.
Better is a little green leaf in a house where love is, than a fatted ox with hatred.
A wrathful man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets down strife.
The way of the sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the righteous is like a highway.
A wise son makes a father glad, but a fool despises his mother.
A fool's support is a joy, but a man of understanding directs his steps.
Plans are frustrated without counsel, but in the multitude of counselors they are established.
A man rejoices in the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken at the right time is good!
The path of life leads upward to the wise, to keep them from going down to the pit.
The Lord tears down the house of the proud, but he establishes the widow's bed.
The Lord detests evil plans, but the words of the pure are his delight.
A greedy person troubles his own household, but he who hates bribes will live.
The heart of the righteous thinks wisely, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil.
The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news makes the bones fat.
He who heeds life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise.
He who rejects instruction hates his own soul, but he who heeds reproof gets understanding.
The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, and humility comes before exaltation.
