DADA PEER KALA

DADA PEER KALA The Father of Janjua's Tribe/Caste To the Maira Matore Janjua Raja's, you're patron father Dada Peer Kala is Sultan al-maroof Raja Kala Khan, son of Raja Mal.

So in fact you are brothers to Khaka Rajputs of Kashmir too. Raja Mal sent his sons to extend their kingdoms and Raja Khakha went further towards Kashmir sides and ruled there. (Chakwal used to be part of Kashmir boundaries in those days and Malot currently still has a strong fort built by Raja Mal as one of the tourist sites of the area) Malot used to be called Rajghar but was later renamed Malot

after Raja Mal. Raja Mal, the father of all modern Muslim Janjua was a brave and powerful ruler. He embraced Islam at a very early age and consolidated his kingdom very powerfully indeed. Infact the salt ranges were controlled by him and his progeny up until modern day, save some interruptions from Mughals and the British Raj. The Rajastani Rajputs are not comparable to his rule over this region. Raja Jodh Khan was the Sardaar(chief)of all 5 brothers however they all retained independant kingdoms/jaghirs of their own under his advice (a sign of their cohesive bond and kinsmenship which sadly lacks today..) and after Raja Jodh Khan, his son Raja Rai Paal became the next Sardaar. Dada Pir Kala settled in Maira Matore I believe to control his nana Sahib's jaghir (his maternal grandfather who was a Ghakkar) and so he remained their without the need to extend or further his jaghir. He led a simple life and died in the same area. A Large Mazaar is still there to this day and an annual celebration is still enjoyed to this day by his progeny. His lineage provided many brave soldiers to the current Pakistani Military but before then, they have remained mainly feudal and to themselves. Tanawali Rajputs are ofcourse descendants of Raja Tanauli Janjua (s/o Raja Mal) and enjoyed an esteemed position within their area for many centurieson account of their bravery and good nature. Even throughout the Mughal empire, they enjoyed roles as Chiefs and advisors to some of the Mughal Shahs in their regions (such as Hazara) and retained their noble status. They retain good relations with all around their territories, in true Janjua spirit. Raja Jodh Khan was a very brave and powerful and Sardaar who controlled the Salt ranges of Jhelum and built many forts and beautiful gardens, a true Shahi. His son Rai Paal who ascended his role was also a brave and clever warrior king and his descendants are scattered all over Punjab in Jhelum and pothwar sides etc. His descendant Sardaar Raja Darwesh Khan Janjua won many battles against the local tribes such as Kianis and Ghakkars of Punjab, many surrendered as recorded in local historical accounts. The area/zilla of Ratala in Pothwar was taken over by his descendants (approx 120/150yrs ago)and their descendants still flourish there to this day, very headstrong and politically powerful Janjua Rajas. During the Sikh revolt centuries ago, the Sikhs annexed many Muslim houses and lands and the Khalsa costed many innocents their lives and property. This forced a big upheaval in the area and some of Rai Paal's descendants migrated towards Gujrat where they settled by some noble Jatt bradheris. Janjua is a very strong and powerful Rajput dynasty, unlike many other Rajputs (who also deserve respect) Janjua's ruled over the Jhelum, Oxus side for many centuries without relent. It is also related that Raja Porus of the Alexander (the great) battle by the river Jhelum/hydaspes was infact a forefather of the Janjua himself. As history states, Raja Porus on account of his bravery retained his kingdom and more and became an ally to Alexander (He still denied his divinity but accepted his alliance). It is the Janjua who are still flourishing there today, they still defend that same region with their blood to this day in the same spirit, as they have done for over 2 and a half thousand years. (there has been some notions by some ill informed Jatts that because of Porus's strong and tall stature that he was a Jatt...this is ill informed as he was clearly stated by Arrian to be a Raja. In fact many Janjua are known for the very same features to this day- areas of Jhelum, Maira Matore, Ratala, Hazara and Kashmir can attest to this) Jatts in their own right are a strong and brave clan and deserve respect but clearly what is not, IS NOT. Porus's denial of Alexander's divinity led him to battle, but he fought to almost his end, a trait still borne by many brave Janjua's as throughout the ages in the battles they engaged in. Raja Mal embraced Islam very early much to the anger of his court and family, and NEVER imposed it upon his subjects. His future descendants were later highly influential in converting kokars (later known as Ghakkars) and Bhatti Rajputs into Muslims too. It is a matter of great pride for all Janjua that we were indeed the 1st Rajputs in Indian history to convert to Islam, (but history can NEVER contradict the fact that there were no forced conversions in our kingdoms, an erronous claim made by some.) Throughout the ups and downs of Indian history, Janjua have remained steadfast, having high positions in Pakistani Police, the Army (many generals of whom have been Janjua) and also have strong political links. Historically Janjua have always been known for their bravery, fighting ability and high understanding of war, this has won them the esteemed positions in many organisations and armies throughout history. Be proud of your heritage but be humble too. The elders did their deeds so now live up to it by meeting or exceeding the principles they laid, of honesty, bravery and good humanitarian cause. We are proud of our past, but our father Raja Mal became Muslim and attested all Adam zaat are one, so be brothers to each other and all others, regardless of caste or creed. Sadly some of our brothers have become very distanced from these values. Blood does not guarantee quality in a person. A person of quality encourages quality in others. You have the history, now prove your quality.
