The Central Committee of the Revolutionary Socialist Party observes with grave concern and severe anguish that the closest neighbour of our country Bangladesh is bleeding in the wake of mindless and widespread violence for the last two days.
As reported in the media such frenzy of horror and killings have erupted following the death of one of the leading activists of last July uprising.
A careful observation reveals the nefarious and premeditated move by the far right fundamentalist forces who have gathered enough strength and mass support following the ouster of the autocratic misrule of Sheikh Hasina in August, 2024.
The present incumbent as the Caretaker government of Bangladesh has miserably failed to contain the ugly rise of religious fundamentalist outfits in various nomenclature. Such anti human forces could proliferate their support bases with tacit indulgence of the Caretaker government.
The democratic edifice whatever is left in Bangladesh is pushed to peril by the mob in the fateful night of the 18th. December, Thursday. The leading media establishments have been vandalised, consigned to fire destroying invaluable documents. The heritage cultural organisations of international repute like the Chhayanut, Udichi those promote secular values and humanity have been ravaged at will. The miscreants moved with impunity. The journalists have been hounded with an ulterior motive of silencing them from any democratic ethos. One reputed journalist has been brutally murdered. The minority community have also been badly targeted.A poor helpless Hindu worker has been brutally murdered and burnt. Killing and arson in various places have pushed the human values to utter shame.
This is also being noted that an anti India campaign is set to distort and tarnish the glorious history of the freedom struggle of 1971.
The CC of RSP noted with dismay and consternation that the people at large and the minority community of Bangladesh are spending agonising time following such civil strife. What is of greater concern the communal and ugly fundamentalist forces in our side of the semi porous border will find it easy to advance their cause of advancing communal strife in India.
The RSP fervently calls upon all the well meaning people of both the countries to rise to the occasion to thwart the evil forces with a view to uphold the values of humanity.
