Mera Ghar-Net successfully conducted a comprehensive Capacity Building Workshop aimed at strengthening the justice sector's response to Gender Based Violence. The training brought together Judicial Officers, Court Staff, Police Officials, and Public Prosecutors to enhance their knowledge and operational capabilities in handling sensitive cases with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.

The workshop focused on deepening Understanding of Gender Based Violence, Improved Case Management practices, addressing key challenges in case handling, and adopting international and local best practices and strategies. Special emphasis was placed on the responsibility of the State in ensuring meaningful participation, prevention, and protection of women, while reinforcing institutional mechanisms for ensuring access to justice for all survivors. Participants engaged in insightful discussions and practical sessions that will contribute to more effective, timely, and victim-centered justice delivery.

Rukhshanda Naz, Managing Trustee of Mera Ghar - NET, joined the Prime Minister Youth Programme on AVT Khyber TV Channelas a distinguished guest speaker. In this impactful session, she addressed the critical issue of domestic violence, highlighting its various forms, underlying causes, and the role it plays in undermining family structures and societal well-being.

She emphasized the key challenges faced in combating domestic violence, including social stigma, lack of awareness, legal gaps, and limited support systems for survivors. Through her insightful discussion, Rukhshanda Naz called for greater youth engagement, community awareness, and stronger institutional support to create safer homes and a more equitable society.

We were pleased to host a productive delegation at Mera Ghar-Net comprising Mr. Ijaz Khan, Project Officer, UNDP Rights Based Community Stabilization Project, District Khyber; Ms. Uzma Mehboob, Youth & Community Engagement Consultant; and Ms. Saira, Focal Person & Gender Desk Coordinator. The visit provided an excellent platform for meaningful engagement and knowledge sharing aimed at strengthening collaborative efforts for community stabilization and gender justice in the region.

The meeting featured in-depth discussions on the operational framework of the Gender Desk, the overall mandate and services of Mera Ghar-Net, the Pro Bono Lawyers mechanism, and effective handling protocols for GBV survivors. All parties explored practical ways to enhance coordination, improve response mechanisms, and ensure timely, survivor-centered support. We look forward to translating these fruitful deliberations into stronger partnerships and impactful joint initiatives.

Mera Ghar - NET legal team successfully conducted a comprehensive awareness session with low-income group women at grassroots in Charsadda that brought together participants from diverse segments of society, including healthcare professionals, students, housemakers, domestic and home-based workers, and teachers. The interactive session provided a valuable platform for cross-sectoral dialogue, fostering greater understanding and collective commitment towards women’s legal rights and protection.

During the workshop, Mera Ghar staff delivered detailed presentations on key legal frameworks concerning women’s rights, with focused discussions on wages, workplace harassment prevention, the critical importance of Nikkah Nama, and service delivery mechanisms. The sessions encouraged active engagement, enabling participants to gain practical knowledge and clarity on their legal rights and available protections.
