📢 WORLD THALASSEMIA DAY 2026
On Friday, 8th May 2026, a deeply emotional, dignified, and awareness-driven ceremony was organized on the occasion of World Thalassemia Day at the office of Zhwandoon Welfare Organization.
The event brought together Thalassemia-affected children, their parents, respected doctors, government officials, social personalities, students, and volunteers under one platform with a shared commitment: to raise awareness, promote prevention, and strengthen the fight against Thalassemia.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of:

Syed Zaheer-ud-Din (District Zakat & Ushr Chairman Peshawar) along with his members conducted a detailed visit to Zhwandoon Welfare Organization, where they met Thalassemia children and reviewed the services being provided by the organization. He inquired about the facilities and support being extended to patients and their families.
He highly appreciated the dedicated services and humanitarian efforts of Zhwandoon Welfare Organization, acknowledging its vital role in supporting Thalassemia patients. He also assured full cooperation and support from the government side, and reaffirmed commitment to addressing all possible challenges faced by the organization.
Sahibzada Muhammad Shabeer Chairman Zhwandoon Welfare Organization shared an emotional message, stating that:
“Thalassemia is not just a disease; it is a lifelong struggle that demands courage, care, and continuous support. Every child deserves life, dignity, and hope.”
He reaffirmed the commitment of Zhwandoon Welfare Organization to provide free treatment, blood support, and awareness services for affected children.
Dr. Shahzad Rashid Chairman Ihsas Welfare Organization highlighted the importance of prevention and voluntary blood donation, stating:
“A single blood donation can save a child’s life and give hope to an entire family.”
He emphasized pre-marital screening as a key step to prevent Thalassemia in future generations.
Prof. Samina Iffat spoke about the emotional and social challenges faced by families:
“Caring for Thalassemia children is not only treatment it is compassion, humanity, and a test of our social responsibility.”
She appreciated the continuous efforts of the organization despite limited resources.
An awareness walk was also conducted with participation from children, parents, students, and guests, delivering a powerful message:

At the end, shields of appreciation were presented to distinguished guests, followed by a special lunch for Thalassemia children, bringing smiles, joy, and hope.
