In a landmark step for indigenous peoples' rights and minority protection, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly has passed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kalash Marriage Bill, 2026, making it Pakistan's first comprehensive family law enacted specifically for an indigenous community.

World Refugee Day 2026 | Until Everyone Is Safe

Today, Society for Credibility, Awareness, Reforms and Fairness join the global community in observing World Refugee Day and commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention a landmark commitment to protecting people forced to flee their homes due to persecution, conflict, and violence.

Seventy-five years later, the world continues to witness an unprecedented displacement crisis, with nearly 118 million people living as refugees, asylum seekers, or internally displaced persons. Behind every number is a story of resilience, courage, and hope in the face of extraordinary challenges.

This year's theme, "Until Everyone Is Safe," is a powerful reminder that safety, dignity, and protection are not privileges they are fundamental human rights that belong to every individual, everywhere.

On this day, let us reaffirm our commitment to standing with displaced communities, promoting inclusion and compassion, and supporting efforts that enable refugees to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. A safer and more just world can only be achieved when no one is left behind.

Together, let us work towards a future where everyone has the opportunity to live in safety, peace, and dignity.

I was honored to participate in the 250th American Independence Day Celebration hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad. The event provided an excellent opportunity to engage with distinguished guests and celebrate the enduring values of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect between Pakistan and the United States.

A special highlight of the evening was the opportunity to meet and interact with Chargé D’Affaires Natalie A. Baker. It was a pleasure to exchange perspectives and witness the strong commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and people-to-people connections.

My sincere appreciation to the U.S. Embassy for hosting such a memorable and meaningful event.

A community session was conducted by SCARF under Saheli’s project “Feminist Future Lab: Flood‑Proof Pakistan – Building Pakistan’s Gender‑Responsive Climate Action Plan (GRCAP),” supported by Baithak in Disaster-Prone District Charsadda, KP.

This session was focused on enhancing understanding of climate adaptation strategies and integrating Community‑Based and School‑Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM & SBDRM) concepts into local planning processes. Discussions also emphasized the importance of inclusive climate governance, local innovation, and sustainable adaptation practices. The session contributed valuable insights toward the development of Pakistan’s Gender‑Responsive Climate Action Plan (GRCAP), strengthening community linkages and supporting evidence‑based climate action efforts.
This initiative reflects the collaborative commitment of SCARF, Saheli, Baithak to advancing climate resilience and fostering localized, gender‑responsive approaches to disaster preparedness and adaptation across districts.
