Cataracts occur in the lens of the eye. Lens (and the retina) are the only parts of the eye that do not receive any sensory innervation.
Cataracts only cause visual symptoms:
1. Decreased vision/blurring
2. Abnormal movements of the eye
3. Squint (deviation of the eyes)
None of these symptoms cause pain. Your child must be a little uncomfortable due to the inability to see, not because of pain.
