Kashmir Institute of Special Education (KISE) was established in 2001. KISE is a project of Ansari Welfare Trust (UK); Charity No.1119062. Classes begin from nursery and go up to metric level. nursery level to Year 12)
Currently on enrol there are 125 students who receive free education, free training workshops, free computer classes, free hearing aids, free uniform, extra curricular activities,
a drama club, vocational training, free accommodation (for those students who live outside the district of Mirpur) and a free pick and drop service for inner city students and its 22 teachers (4 of which are hearing impaired and from these 4, 2 of them are graduates from Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan). All teachers are fully qualified and trained in sign language. In 2009, KISE also formed the first deaf cricket club in Azad Kashmir. Key Highlights:

Students of KISE appeared in the metric examinations for the first time in the history of the Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) board. July 2011:
A 14 year old female student of KISE represented the State of Kashmir for the first time in history at the World Special Olympics (Athens, Greece)
KISE openly welcomes its visitors to openly visit the school and to explore the learning, training and enthusiastic learning in the school.
