A District Coordination Meeting with NGOs was held at the Deputy Commissioner Office, Mirpurkhas on May 7, 2026. Deputy Commissioner Mirpurkhas, Nawab Sameer Hussain Laghari, presided over the meeting. The session was also attended by Mr. Faisal Ahmed Soomro, Deputy Commissioner-I, Assistant Commissioner Kot Ghulam Muhammad, Assistant Commissioner Umerkot, and Mr. Anwar Khaskheli, Child Protection Officer, Social Welfare Department. Representatives from several civil society organisations participated in the meeting, including Mr. Ayaz Kaka NRSP, Sher Muhammad Solangi RSDO, Muhammad Bux Kapri CSSP, Shahzado Malik ARTS Foundation, Asif Khaskheli HWA, Satram Das HHF, Farhan peace foundation, Pervaiz Hakro PVDP, Shahid Buledi SRSO, Waheed Malah CESVI , Huma Aslam KCDA, representative from Hands Ngo, islamic relief, and others.
The meeting focused on key social and development issues affecting the district. Detailed discussions were held on the current situation of women empowerment, violence against women, and gender-based violence (GBV). Participants highlighted existing challenges and shared information on ongoing interventions by civil society organisations. Issues related to housing and shelter for vulnerable groups were also reviewed, with particular emphasis on the needs of flood-affected families. Nikah registration matters were discussed on a priority basis, stressing the importance of legal documentation, raising community awareness, and strengthening coordination between local authorities and civil society.
At the conclusion, participants agreed to enhance collaborative efforts, improve referral mechanisms, and ensure joint follow-up actions to effectively address the identified issues.
