One picture, two success stories that make me proud.
One is about Mr. Noman Hafeez, who qualified CSS twice and finally secured 5th position in CSS 2022. He is now serving the nation as an Assistant Commissioner in Upper Dir. The second is Dr. Ameer Hamza, who cleared PMS 2022 and secured 10th position. He is currently awaiting his final result for CSS 2025, while serving as SDEO PERA at Lahore Cantt.
It is well known that success is not possible without discipline, determination, and consistency. These qualities ultimately lead to a burning desire to achieve one’s targets. However, a debate may arise: does burning desire come first, followed by these ingredients of success, or do these ingredients come first and then give rise to desire? My mindset strongly favors the latter that discipline, determination, and consistency come first.
In this picture, both young bureaucrats are living examples of this mindset. As a mentor, I always thank Allah Almighty for blessing me with hardworking and enthusiastic aspirants. These students inspire me greatly through their obedience, capacity for hard work, and determination.
What I want to convey through the story of these two officers is simple: both worked tirelessly and demonstrated unwavering passion for their goals. They remained focused and had no other option in their minds except bureaucracy—and they achieved it.
Mr. Noman is an engineer and a graduate of PIEAS, while Dr. Ameer Hamza is a doctor and a graduate of Sheikh Zayed Medical College. Despite having strong professional degrees, neither kept a second option. Mr. Noman left his scholarship at PIEAS with a clear mindset to pursue CSS, while Dr. Ameer Hamza left his medical career to follow the same path.
Both of them pursued their goals with absolute commitment and no backup plan and they achieved their sole ambition of joining the bureaucracy.
My message is for those aspirants who always keep second and third options in their minds and frequently talk about them. Success follows those who never allow themselves to think below their targets.
As a mentor, I have witnessed many success stories of students who never compromised on their goals and maintained a clear, focused mindset. On the other side, I have also seen many failure stories of aspirants who shared similar habits and approaches patterns that are unfortunately very common among them.
