The human rights advocate and head of Pakistan Masiha Millat Party, Aslam Pervaiz Sahotra, after a meeting of the leaders of the Masiha Millat Party, along with the central president of the party, William Javaid, Vice Chairman Younas Kali, Dr. Liaquat Munawar, Dr. Azeem Sahotra, Adv Chaudhary Kamran Khokhar, Pastor Khaliq Mukhtar, Younas Bhatti, Pervaiz Michael, Babar Mughal, youth leader Romail Aslam Sahotra, Riasat William Bhatti and Pastor Babar, while addressing a press conference, said that under my leadership, the ongoing struggle of the Pakistan Masiha Millat Party for the restoration of the fundamental rights of minorities and bonded laborers has frightened the government of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), which is why today 25/03/2015, I was arrested at the time when, after the Yohanabad incident, I was present in Islamabad in front of the National Press Club on 25/03/2015 to light the candle of peace to eliminate the severe religious diversity between Christians and Muslims. At that moment, Punjab Police surrounded the area and arrested me, and while putting me in the vehicle, Aftab Gill was also seated with me. The whole nation knows that among the reasons for my arrest were also the following: that the demand of the Pakistan Masiha Millat Party had gained momentum, which was that the right of minorities to elect their representatives with their votes, which had been usurped by Muslim political parties using their majority power in the assemblies, should be immediately restored. The method of selection for giving representation to minorities should be immediately abolished, and minorities should also be given the right to elect their representatives through their votes. The culprits who burned alive the Christian couple Shama and Shahzad in a brick kiln should be punished according to the law. Asiya Bibi, who was sentenced to death on charges of blasphemy, should be immediately released. Like Muslim women, women from religious minorities should also be given representation in all houses from the union council to the national assembly. Legislation should be enacted against the abduction of Christian girls and their forced religious conversion and marriages.
Today, through you, my journalist brothers, I once again demand from the government that the method of selection for giving representation to minorities should be immediately abolished, and minorities should also be given their constitutional right to elect their representatives with their votes. Legislation should be enacted against the abduction and forced religious conversion of underage Christian girls. Like Muslim women, women from minorities should also be given representation in the houses from the union council to the national assembly. Measures should be taken to prevent the misuse of the blasphemy law. Steps should be taken to implement the Bonded Labour Act 1992 to eradicate forced labour.
