A SWEET MEMORY
(U.S. Consul General at Pakistan's First Art Therapy and Psychodrama Unit, Fountain House, Lahore" Pakistan)
This is a cherished memory. During my time at Fountain House, my tenure there was from 2004 to 2014. It was here that I established the art and drama therapy unit, alongside Professor Azhar Ali Dizvi Sahab (late) and Professor Dr. Haroon Rashid Chaudhry (late). I have now been practicing expressive therapies in Pakistan for nearly 22 years. Since all my psychological research integrated art and psychology, I focused on expressive therapies_on how mental illnesses are treated through them. I specifically concentrated on art therapy and drama therapy_developing their techniques, methodologies, and applications. I established individual and group sessions based on scientific principles. Thus, this is a treasured memory where the U.S. Consul General visited, and Amjad Saqib Sahab is standing with me, along with a senior psychiatrist. It is a beautiful memory in which I demonstrate to everyone how this unit works_how individual and group sessions are organized, how the internship program operates, how psychosocial activities are carried out, and how patients are rehabilitated. It is truly an amazing and unforgettable moment.
