We are on a mission via our N.G.O. --- ‘Pakistan Masonic Institution’ --- A mission that is to change society for the better. We have a history of reaching out to the most disadvantaged and the poorest of poor sections of society in undeveloped/underdeveloped areas and provide support to the needy with a wholesome approach.
We have a strong understanding that N.G.Os. are the driving force for development as a whole and they form the strong foundation on which societies and economies prosper. In the light of our belief in the increasing role played by the N.G.Os. in Pakistan and out of our strong belief in the importance of the ‘Civil Society’ as a catalyst for development, we run our N.G.O. --- ‘Pakistan Masonic Institution’, since the year 1957, with some like – minded social activists. We shapes and approves the foundation strategies, reviews results and helps set the overall direction of our philanthropic efforts.
‘Pakistan Masonic Institution’ – P.M.I. is a young organization, which has been started with developing the parts to develop the whole. Even though young P.M.I. is an organization, which is focused and committed in its activities and shares with others its experiences, findings and aspirations.
Our N.G.O. has a social vision, which is genuine and path breaking. The broad spectrum of our activities and their success rate within a short span of time speak about the dedicated work done by ‘Pakistan Masonic Institution’.
We endeavor in a humble way to reach underprivileged and needy people and give them an encouraging new lease of life. Through development, relief and advocacy, we strive to create lasting change in the lives of people. My experience over the years has shown that if we limit our programs and investment to just directly impact the people, the change will not be sustainable. For sustaining the well – being of people, we need to equip the families and communities socio – economically; hence, our approach to people well – being is community – based and involves multiple programs. Our investment in children, their families and communities are often in areas such as economic development, education, health and leadership development, against abuse, & so on. P.M.I. works closely with community – based organizations, government, other N.G.Os., and civil societies.
The focus of ‘Pakistan Masonic Institution’ is not just limited to children. We provide support to needy women; offer them vocational skills training to enable them to lead lives of financial independence and self esteem, help in women’s health issues and so on. Increasing awareness and fighting violence against women is among ‘Pakistan Masonic Institution’s’ priorities.
There are older people today than ever before and their number is on the increase. 73% of the 60+ age group in Pakistan are illiterate with a little access to any basic educational means. There is an urgent need to provide older people with the means to lead a full life, where they are provided with medical care and nursing. They need to have access to information, entertainment and the right to make their own choices. Older people need to be able to lead a full life with dignity. ‘Pakistan Masonic Institution’ is committed in working for the welfare and empowerment of older persons.
‘Pakistan Masonic Institution’ aim to empower youth, nurture innate talents and develop their skills to enable them to fulfill their potential and prosper in their communities and in the world at large. At the ground level, ‘Pakistan Masonic Institution’ has taken initiatives to provide opportunities for capacity building to youths; to keep pace with technical and professional demands of emerging times. Yet more still needs to be done and we are on the path to empower the youth in our society. I have always held the belief that through entrepreneurship, innovation and grassroots efforts, our young people can transform this country and our state. Whether rich or poor, the next generation has the power to change this world for the better.
