The Department of Social Work at University of the Punjab (PU) observed the International Day of the with a program titled “Celebrating Girls’ Child Rights: Awareness & Action,” focusing on this year’s theme, “Empowering Girls, Securing Futures.”
The event aimed to raise about the rights of girls and action towards achieving gender equality. Among the attendees were Prof Dr Uzma Ashiq, Chairperson of the Department of Social Work, Dr Noor uz Zaman, Chairman of the Phoenix Foundation for Research & Development (PFRD), along with members and students.
Dr Noor uz Zaman, in his address, shed light on critical issues such as limited access to and child labor. He urged to take the lead in grassroots , emphasizing the need for collective efforts to address these .
Prof Dr Uzma Ashiq reaffirmed the department’s dedication to gender , encouraging students to be in the movement for girls’ rights. “This not only raised awareness but also fostered , strengthening our resolve to protect and girls,” she said.
The program featured a panel involving faculty members, social workers, and child rights activists. The panel explored how can play a vital role in promoting the rights of , paving the way for future initiatives toward a more equitable .
The event concluded with a renewed to continue working towards , ensuring that girls have the they deserve to thrive.
