On behalf of Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital (GTTH), Dr. Ali Ijaz, Orthopaedic Oncologist, signed an MOU with Farshine for a collaborative research project aimed at bringing medical 3D printing technology to Pakistan.

This project has already received DRAP approval. Under the MOU, Farshine will invest USD 3 million, while the collaboration is expected to attract a Chinese government research grant of over USD 10–12 million, which will fund the project. If all goes according to plan, we are hopeful that it will materialize over the next six months.

The facility will include a complete medical 3D printing ecosystem with capabilities for patient-specific instrumentation (PSI), custom additive-manufactured implants, and advanced surgical planning. This will be the first project of its kind in Pakistan and has the potential to significantly advance research, innovation, and patient care in orthopaedic oncology and other surgical specialties.

The MOU was signed during a major Pakistan–China B2B Investment Conference, attended by leading Chinese and Pakistani pharmaceutical, medical device, and healthcare companies involved in R&D and manufacturing. It was remarkable to see the scale of collaboration. The Chinese government allocates approximately USD 1.2 billion annually to promote overseas investments through co-funding mechanisms. This conference alone facilitated investment commitments worth approximately USD 1.492 billion in Pakistan.
