Had a productive meeting with journalist Betsy Joles to discuss the challenges faced by religious minorities in Pakistan. We highlighted the need for policy reforms, stronger state protection, and effective media advocacy to promote minority rights, religious freedom, and accountability.

HARDS Pakistan organized a one-day training on “Activism in Fear-Driven Communities” at NCCP Hall, Lahore, bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds and communities.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Ejaz Azad, who engaged participants in meaningful discussions on the challenges of activism in communities affected by fear, intolerance, and social pressures. The training focused on strengthening participants’ understanding, confidence, and practical skills to respond to human rights concerns promptly and responsibly.

Teachers, students, politicians, lawyers, human rights defenders, religious minorities, and representatives from different sections of society actively participated in the training. Their diverse experiences contributed to an inclusive and meaningful dialogue.

Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Habel, Executive Director, HARDS Pakistan emphasized that HARDS aims to equip human rights defenders with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to identify violations, raise their voices, and take timely action for the protection of human rights.

Three years have passed since the tragic Jaranwala incident, yet the victims are still waiting for justice. Neither justice has been delivered nor effective measures taken to prevent such tragedies in the future. While the scales of justice may not be in our hands, we have the right and responsibility to raise our voices for truth and justice. Each of us must choose whether to remain silent or stand firmly with the facts and the victims.
