Meet Shiza

At just 12 years old, Shiza joined Umeed Gharr in April while undergoing treatment for T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia at Indus Hospital.

When she first arrived, Shiza was incredibly quiet and timid. She was weak, and the long journey of treatment had taken a lot out of her.

But slowly, things began to change.

At Umeed Gharr, Shiza found a safe place to stay, regular meals, transport to and from the hospital, and most importantly, a little space to simply be a child.

Today, Alhamdulillah, she has opened up. She has made friends, found her confidence, and gained strength. Watching her transformation has been one of those reminders of why Umeed Gharr exists.

And now, Shiza is about to complete her treatment.

When she grows up, she wants to become a lawyer. We have no doubt that this determined little girl has big things ahead of her.

For now, we’ll be right here cheering her on every step of the way.
