World MS Day 2026

In observance of World MS Day 2026, KIND-R, in collaboration with NARF Pakistan, successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session titled “My MS Diagnosis: Navigating MS Together.”

The session brought together healthcare professionals and neurology experts to discuss the challenges, diagnosis, management, and patient centered care approaches for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The event served as an important platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and raising awareness about MS within the medical community.

The session was moderated by Dr. Mahzareen Ishrat. Valuable insights were shared by distinguished speakers Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Wasay.

Through meaningful discussions and expert perspectives, the CME emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, multidisciplinary care, patient support, and collaborative efforts to improve outcomes for individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis.

A session was held at the Karachi Institute of Neurological Diseases & Rehabilitation (KIND-R), delivered by Mr. Aziz Nizamuddin Farooqui, Sr. Physiotherapist, on the topic “The Role of Physiotherapist in Healthcare.”

He explained the important role physiotherapists play in improving patients’ mobility, physical function, and overall quality of life. He discussed how physiotherapy helps individuals recover from injuries, manage pain, restore movement, and prevent physical disabilities.

Mr. Aziz also highlighted the significance of physiotherapy in the rehabilitation of patients with neurological, musculoskeletal, and other health conditions. He emphasized the importance of early intervention, regular exercise, and patient education in achieving better health outcomes.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion, providing participants with a better understanding of the vital contribution of physiotherapists in healthcare and rehabilitation services.

On Saturday, 23 May 2026, a staff meeting was held at the Karachi Institute of Neurological Diseases & Rehabilitation (KIND-R). The meeting primarily focused on the core message of the Eid-ul-Adha.

During the session, President KIND-R Prof. Dr. Mohammad Wasay addressed the staff and delivered a brief yet meaningful talk on the significance and virtues of Qurbani (sacrifice). He explained that Eid-ul-Adha represents devotion, obedience, and the spirit of sacrifice for the sake of Allah (SWT).

He further highlighted that Qurbani teaches the values of compassion, generosity, and care for those in need, especially through the distribution of sacrificial meat among the underprivileged.

The meeting concluded with a positive note, reflecting shared understanding and appreciation of the message conveyed regarding the essence and teachings of Eid-ul-Adha.

On Wednesday, 20-May-2026, a session was held at the Karachi Institute of Neurological Diseases & Rehabilitation (KIND-R), delivered by Ms. Shagufta Safi, Associate Physiotherapist, on the topic “Fall Prevention Guidelines in Adults.”

She explained that falls are a common problem among adults, especially in older age, and can lead to serious injuries such as fractures, head trauma, and reduced independence. She discussed various risk factors for falls, including poor balance, muscle weakness, vision problems, unsafe home environments, and certain medications.

The session concluded with a brief discussion, helping participants understand the importance of fall prevention and the steps that can be taken to maintain safety and independence in daily life.
