Congratulations to Dr. Wajid Ali – VS Fine Art Class of 2004 On behalf of the Board of Governors and Members of DOVSALUMNI

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Wajid Ali on the successful completion of his PhD in Truck Art — a remarkable achievement that crowns a career dedicated to the preservation, elevation, and global celebration of Pakistani visual culture.

Dr. Wajid’s journey from BFA with honors at the University of Karachi to MA (Hons.) Visual Art from NCA Lahore, and now a PhD Scholar in Cultural Art History, reflects his unwavering commitment to artistic excellence and cultural storytelling. His contributions span continents and communities—from the iconic W11 Karachi to Melbourne Project for the Commonwealth Games 2006, to the monumental “Great Wall of Pakistani Truck Art” at Islamabad International Airport, and the vibrant EU roadshow “Dosti Ka Safar” in 2023.

His immersive 45-day journey across Pakistan on a Bedford truck to understand the lives of truck drivers exemplifies the depth of his research and empathy. As Assistant Professor and founding head of the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Gujrat, Dr. Wajid continues to inspire future generations through teaching, exhibitions, and cultural advocacy.

We are proud to celebrate this milestone with him and honor his role in bringing Pakistani truck art to the global stage. May his journey ahead be filled with continued success, discovery, and impact.

With profound sorrow, the Board of Governors of DOVSALUMNI expresses heartfelt condolences on the passing of the beloved father of our alumna, Syed Asim Mehdi Kazmi (Class of Graphic Design 2006), Mr. Ali Mehdi Kazmi.

We pray to Almighty Allah to grant the departed soul the highest place in Jannah and to bless the bereaved family with patience and strength in this difficult time.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Heartiest Congratulations to Dr. Ayesha Agha Shah!

We are immensely proud to share the wonderful news that Ayesha Agha Shah (B.Arch 1999–2004, First Batch, Department of Visual Studies, University of Karachi) has successfully defended her PhD!

Ayesha’s journey is a true testament to dedication and resilience — conducting fieldwork across heritage sites in Karachi, pursuing academic research in Sri Lanka, all while continuing full-time professional work in Bahrain. Her achievement reflects a remarkable blend of passion, purpose, and perseverance.

On behalf of the Visual Studies Alumni Association, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for her continued success and impact in the academic and professional world.
