The Pakistan Christian Council (PCC) expresses its deep concern over the unfortunate incident that recently took place in Ghazafi Colony, Baldia Town, where a Christian family was accused of blasphemy. Following the allegation, protests were held outside their residence and the family reportedly received serious threats, creating fear and anxiety.
The Pakistan Christian Council thanks Almighty God that the State of Pakistan, Government of Sindh, Sindh Rangers, Sindh Police, the district administration, and all relevant institutions acted promptly, responsibly, and effectively to bring the situation under control and prevent what could have become a major religious tragedy.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Anthony Naveed, MPA Faheem Patni, MPA Asif Musa, Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Ali Khurshidi, MPA Roma Mushtaq, MQM Pakistan, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami, Sunni Tehreek, other political and social leaders, respected religious scholars, faith leaders, pastors, and all individuals who played a positive role in promoting peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony.
The Pakistan Christian Council also expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Church of Pakistan and The Rt. Rev. Frederick John, Bishop of Karachi and Balochistan, who remained actively engaged throughout this sensitive matter, closely monitored the situation, and provided every possible support to ensure peace and assist the affected family.
The Council pays special tribute to Hazrat Maulana M***i Zubair Sahib, Allama Bilal Saleem Qadri Sahib (Sunni Tehreek), Mr. Liaquat Ali Askani, Mr. Abdul Karim Askani, and their colleagues for their constructive role in maintaining peace, reducing tensions, and helping prevent potential violence and bloodshed. We also acknowledge the timely and responsible efforts of the Sindh Rangers, Sindh Police, district administration, Government of Sindh, political leadership, religious scholars, and all concerned stakeholders, whose collective efforts protected the area from a major religious conflict.
The Pakistan Christian Council is deeply concerned that the affected Christian family reportedly received serious threats from unidentified individuals during the incident, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
We call upon the Government of Pakistan, the Government of Sindh, and all relevant investigative authorities to conduct a transparent, impartial, and lawful investigation so that all facts may be established. If the investigation concludes that any individual or group deliberately made a false accusation or attempted to take the law into their own hands, appropriate legal action should be taken against them. Likewise, if any allegation is proven through due legal process and the courts of law, action should be taken strictly in accordance with the Constitution and the law. The Pakistan Christian Council firmly believes that justice must be based on evidence, due process, and the rule of law—not on rumours, emotions, or mob pressure.
We also emphasize that Islam, like all religions, teaches justice, peace, and the importance of verification. The Holy Qur'an instructs believers to verify information before acting upon it. We therefore urge all citizens to exercise patience, restraint, and respect for the legal process when dealing with sensitive matters.
The Pakistan Christian Council believes that had this sensitive situation not been addressed promptly, it could have escalated into a serious religious crisis with consequences extending beyond the local community to the entire country.
We urge the Government of Pakistan and all law enforcement agencies to ensure effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future, safeguard the lives and property of all citizens, strengthen interfaith harmony, and uphold the rule of law so that peace, mutual respect, and national unity continue to prevail throughout Pakistan.
The Pakistan Christian Council once again reaffirms its commitment to promoting interfaith harmony, peace, justice, the supremacy of the Constitution of Pakistan, and equal rights for all citizens, and will continue to play its positive role in achieving these shared national values.
