The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA), in collaboration with the Vision for Education Foundation, organized an Eye Screening Camp at DWA to promote accessible eye care and healthy vision for Persons with Disabilities, DWA users, beneficiaries, and the wider community.

The camp provided free eye screening, vision check-ups, consultations, medical support, and free classes/awareness sessions, helping participants understand the importance of regular eye care and early detection of vision problems. Vision for Education Foundation’s eye-screening work focuses on improving access to vision care.

The Eye Screening Camp was supported by: Muhammad Qutbuddin, Project Coordinator; Muhammad Umer, Optometrist; Syed Kissa Zehra, Optometrist; and Hamza Ahmed, Assistant Optometrist, Vision for Education Foundation.

This collaborative initiative reflects a shared commitment to inclusive healthcare, accessibility, and better quality of life for Persons with Disabilities and the community.

The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA) team actively participated in the Sindh Consultative Meeting for the National Mental Health Policy (2026–2035).

DWA was represented by Ms. Saima Ali, President DWA, and Ms. Shaheena Ali, Women Coordinator DWA, who joined key stakeholders in discussions on Sindh’s Mental Health Situation Analysis, findings and results, consultation processes, and proposed policy directions.

The consultation provided an important platform to share perspectives and strengthen a people-centred, inclusive, accessible, and rights-based mental health policy framework for Pakistan, with particular attention to the needs and rights of Persons with Disabilities.

DWA remains committed to promoting inclusion, dignity, accessibility, equal opportunities, and meaningful participation in policies and programmes affecting Persons with Disabilities.

The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA) team had a productive meeting with Ms. Saira Atta, Commissioner Lasbela Division. Representing DWA were Mr. Babar Iqbal, Program Manager DWA, and Mr. Shah Faisal, Goodwill Ambassador DWA.

The meeting focused on strengthening support and services for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across Lasbela Division, particularly in Winder, including the distribution of wheelchairs and improving access to essential support services.

Key discussions highlighted the importance of capacity-building training, skills development, empowerment, accessibility, and creating greater opportunities for Persons with Disabilities in the region.

Ms. Saira Atta expressed her support for future collaboration with DWA to promote the empowerment, inclusion, independence, and equal opportunities of Persons with Disabilities across Lasbela Division.

DWA looks forward to building stronger partnerships with the administration and local stakeholders to create a more inclusive, accessible, and empowered Lasbela Division.

The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA) team participated in the 3rd Consultative Session with Government Partners and Civil Society Networks in Sindh, organized under the Support to Civil Society in Pakistan (SCSP) Participatory Local Governance (PLG) Programme, supported by GIZ, at the Marriott Hotel, Karachi.

Ms. Saima Ali, President of DWA, and Ms. Shaheena Ali, Women Coordinator of DWA, actively contributed to the discussions as representatives of an Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD). They advocated for meaningful participation, accessibility, inclusion, and the rights of persons with disabilities in local governance and development.

The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA) Team was honoured to be invited to the launch of the first-ever Sindh Gender Parity Report (SGPR), held at Pearl Continental Hotel, Ballroom-A, Karachi.

The event was organized by the Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh, in collaboration with UNFPA, marking an important milestone toward understanding gender disparities, promoting equality, and strengthening evidence-based efforts for a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable Sindh.

DWA appreciates this significant initiative and remains committed to promoting inclusion, equal opportunities, and the rights of Persons with Disabilities in all spheres of society.
