Through personalized rehabilitation and therapeutic activities, we help persons with disabilities build confidence, develop essential skills, and actively participate in social and community activities.

The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA) team actively participated in the Civil Society Actors Training on Human Rights Due Diligence, organized under the Child Rights Action Hub Karachi.

The training was conducted under the European Union (EU)-funded project, “Strengthening Respect for Human Rights and Decent Work for Youth in Pakistan’s Textile and Leather Industry.”

We are delighted to share that Ms. Saima Ali, President of DWA, and Ms. Saima Baloch, HR Department, DWA, were awarded Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their successful completion of the training.

Their participation reflects DWA’s continued commitment to human rights, inclusion, decent work, and the empowerment of persons with disabilities and youth.

The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA) team actively participated in a 4-Day Protection Training focused on strengthening knowledge and understanding of key protection concepts, including Child Protection, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Safe Referrals, PSEAH, and Disability Inclusion.

We are especially proud of our young women with disabilities, Ms. Javeria Hanif and Ms. Nasreen Raj, who actively participated in the training and shared valuable perspectives on the challenges faced by persons and children with disabilities.

We are delighted to share that Ms. Javeria Hanif and Ms. Nasreen Raj were awarded Certificates of Appreciation by IOM in recognition of their successful completion of the training.

Their participation highlights the importance of empowering persons with disabilities to raise their voices, share their experiences, and contribute meaningfully to building safer, more inclusive, and accessible communities.

The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA) organized an Awareness Session on Postal Ballot for Persons with Disabilities under the District Voters Education Committee (DVEC).

The session was conducted by Mr. Shahnawaz Brohi, District Election Officer, ECP, and Ms. Sarwat Batool, Assistant Commissioner Election, ECP, who highlighted the voting rights and electoral participation of persons with disabilities.

A key focus of the session was how persons with severe physical disabilities who are unable to travel can exercise their right to vote through the Postal Ballot facility from home, subject to the eligibility requirements under election law.

The session promoted greater awareness, accessibility, and inclusion in the electoral process because every voice matters, and every vote counts.

Glimpses of Day 5 Internship Program for Final-Year DPT Students of Jinnah University for Women.

The 1st Batch of the Internship Program for Final-Year DPT Students of Jinnah University for Women successfully completed Day 5 at the Disabled Welfare Association (DWA).

The session focused on Disability Sensitization, giving students valuable insights into Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Cord Injury, and Spina Bifida, with an emphasis on physiotherapy management and appropriate rehabilitation approaches.

The students also shared their valuable feedback and experiences about the internship, highlighting the knowledge, practical exposure, and understanding they gained throughout the program.

At DWA, we believe in preparing future physiotherapists with not only clinical knowledge but also empathy, inclusion, and a deeper understanding of disability.

The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA), in collaboration with NADRA and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), successfully organized a Special CNIC Camp for Persons with Disabilities, helping make identity registration more accessible and inclusive.

More than 60+ individuals came forward to apply for their Special CNICs — an important step toward identity, access, empowerment, and equal participation. NADRA’s Mobile Registration Van (MRV) and Man Pack System helped make the registration process easier and more accessible for persons with disabilities. NADRA officially recognizes Man Pack units as a service designed to assist specially abled persons.

We were honored by the presence of Mr. Shahnwaz Bohri, District Officer, ECP; Mr. Shahid Bhatti, Assistant ECP; Ms. Sarwat Batool, ACE, KE ECP; Mr. Yousuf Hussain, Assistant ECP; and Mr. Ejaz Ahmed, Assistant ECP, who visited the camp.

During the visit, the DWA team highlighted the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in the CNIC application process. The ECP team expressed its commitment to addressing these challenges and strengthening inclusive electoral participation and equal rights. ECP also continues to promote inclusive NIC and voter registration for persons with disabilities.

This initiative is a meaningful step toward a more accessible, inclusive, and empowered society where everyone can exercise their rights with dignity.

Special CNIC Registration Camp for Persons with Disabilities

Disabled Welfare Association, in collaboration with NADRA Pakistan and ECP is organizing a dedicated camp to facilitate easy access to identification documents for persons with disabilities and their families.
