A group of highly educated professional social workers founded the Women Industrial Social and Educational Society (WISES) for ameliorating the plight of women and children living in periurban and rural areas in the province of Sindh. After its registration in June 2001 with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Sindh, WISES embarked upon an ambitious program aimed at providing educatio

n, health and poverty reduction programs in the underserved districts of Sindh. As part of poverty reduction strategy micro-finance facilities and marketable vocational trainings were also extended to the underserved rural communities.
