Atif Farooqi, Advisor and Chief Operating Officer of the Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC), together with Mr. Hasnain Haider, PRBC Regional Lead Energy, met His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, to explore opportunities for strengthening trilateral trade between Pakistan, Romania, and Uzbekistan.

The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in trade, energy, and logistics, with an emphasis on improving regional connectivity. A key highlight was the recent Memorandum of Understanding between Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and the Port of Constanța, supported by His Excellency Dr. Dan Stoenescu, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, marking an important step forward in regional collaboration and positioning Romania as a strategic gateway for Pakistan’s access to European Union markets.

Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC) Advisor & Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Atif Farooqi, accompanied by PRBC Chairman, Mr. Sohail Shamim Firpo, attended a special Chinese film screening at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi. The event was organized to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China.

The distinguished gathering was hosted by Mr. Muhammad Irfan Soomro, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Mohammad Ahmed Shah (HI, SI), President of the Arts Council of Pakistan. The occasion was honored by the presence of the Chief Guest, H.E. Mr. Yang Yundong, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China.

The film screening served as a meaningful platform for cultural exchange, symbolizing the longstanding friendship, mutual trust, and strategic partnership shared by Pakistan and China.

The Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC) was privileged to attend the prestigious tribute event honoring the remarkable career and achievements of Pakistan’s renowned television and film icon, Mr. Faysal Quraishi. Organized by the Lifestyle Journalists Association, the event took place at Auditorium 1, Arts Council Karachi.

Representing PRBC, Chairman Mr. Sohail Shamim Firpo and Advisor & COO of Pakistan Romania Business Council, Mr. Atif Farooqi, joined distinguished guests, media representatives, and members of the entertainment industry to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Mr. Quraishi to Pakistan’s creative and cultural landscape.

Atif Farooqi, Advisor & Chief Operating Officer of the Pakistan Romania Business Council, along with Sohail Shamim Firpo, called on Nehal Hashmi at the Governor House to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral relations, trade, and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Romania.

During the meeting, both sides explored opportunities to expand collaboration across key sectors including maritime trade, logistics, agriculture, industry, and information technology. They emphasized the importance of continued institutional engagement to promote business-to-business partnerships and unlock new economic opportunities between the two countries.

Governor Hashmi acknowledged Atif Farooqi’s dedicated efforts over the past 26 years in fostering trade relations between Pakistan and Romania and commended his role in strengthening commercial and economic ties. He also appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the Pakistan Romania Business Council in promoting trade diplomacy and private-sector cooperation.

Speaking on the recent KPT–Constanța Port MOU, Atif Farooqi stated that the agreement reflects the vision of Dan Stoenescu and will help position Romania as an important gateway to European Union markets for Pakistan. Atif Farooqi, Advisor & COO of the Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC), along with Sohail Shamim Firpo, Chairman PRBC, represented the Council at the Vision 2030: Pakistan Medical Devices Manufacturing Summit held at Salim Habib University. The summit was organised by Dr. Shahid Noor, Chairman of Saman e Shifa Foundation, as part of the 2nd ICETBEST International Conference on Emerging Trends in Biomedical Engineering Science & Technology.

The event brought together prominent voices from academia, industry, and policymaking circles from Pakistan and abroad to encourage collaboration in biomedical engineering, medical devices, and innovation-led manufacturing.

A key highlight of the forum was the participation of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania — a prestigious public technical university established in 1948, widely recognised for its excellence in engineering, applied sciences, and international partnerships.

PRBC’s participation underscored the Council’s ongoing commitment to strengthening academic, industrial, and trade relations between Pakistan and Romania, particularly in the fields of technology transfer, research partnerships, and medical device innovation.

17 May 2026 The Consulate General of Sri Lanka, under the gracious hosting of H.E. Mr. P.K. Sanjeewa Pattiwila, Consul General of Sri Lanka, held the Vesak 2026 celebrations on Sunday evening at its premises. The event commemorated the birth, enlightenment, and passing away of Lord Buddha, while promoting the universal message of peace, compassion, and understanding.

The program included Buddha Puja, a Dhamma sermon by a revered monk, devotional songs, and refreshments. Markian Chuckhuk, Ambassador of Ukraine, welcomed Dr. Syed Akmal Sultan as the new Representative of the Union of Entrepreneurs of Small, Medium, and Privatized Enterprises of Ukraine at the Embassy of Ukraine.

Ambassador Chuckhuk provided comprehensive guidelines to the newly appointed Representative, advising Dr. Sultan to work closely with Mr. Iurii Komogorov, Second Secretary of the Embassy. He thanked Mr. Atif Farooqi, Advisor and COO of the Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC), for introducing Dr. Sultan.

The meeting emphasized the Union’s core priorities of advancing SME development, facilitating privatized enterprise partnerships, and expanding international trade corridors.
