Atif Farooqi, Advisor & COO of the Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC), along with Sohail Shamim Firpo, Chairman PRBC, represented the Council at the Vision 2030: Pakistan Medical Devices Manufacturing Summit held at Salim Habib University. The summit was organised by Dr. Shahid Noor, Chairman of Saman e Shifa Foundation, as part of the 2nd ICETBEST International Conference on Emerging Trends in Biomedical Engineering Science & Technology.
The event brought together prominent voices from academia, industry, and policymaking circles from Pakistan and abroad to encourage collaboration in biomedical engineering, medical devices, and innovation-led manufacturing.
A key highlight of the forum was the participation of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania — a prestigious public technical university established in 1948, widely recognised for its excellence in engineering, applied sciences, and international partnerships.
PRBC’s participation underscored the Council’s ongoing commitment to strengthening academic, industrial, and trade relations between Pakistan and Romania, particularly in the fields of technology transfer, research partnerships, and medical device innovation.
Speaking at the summit, Atif Farooqi stated:
''Pakistan has significant potential to strengthen its medical technology and manufacturing sector through international partnerships, applied research, and industrial collaboration. Platforms like this play an important role in bridging academia and industry, helping transform innovation into meaningful impact. The Pakistan Romania Business Council is pleased to support such initiatives and promote long-term cooperation between Pakistan and Romania.”
The summit provided an important platform for discussions on innovation, entrepreneurship, and the future of biomedical engineering. PRBC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that connect Pakistani institutions with global centres of excellence and encourage sustainable international collaboration.
