🇵🇰 Independence Day Celebration at Women & Juvenile Jail, Karachi

Pakistan Legal United Society (PLUS), in collaboration with the Prison Department and Mezan Group, organized a special Independence Day celebration at the Women & Juvenile Jail, Karachi. 🇵🇰💚

The event featured patriotic performances and activities by the inmates, while gifts were distributed among the juveniles to encourage and appreciate their participation. 🎁✨

The celebration reflected the spirit of freedom, hope, rehabilitation, and a brighter future for every child. 🇵🇰💚

🇵🇰 Celebrating the Spirit of Freedom at Women & Juvenile Jail, Karachi 🇵🇰

Pakistan Legal United Society (PLUS), with the support of the Mezan Team, and Prison Department, proudly celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day at the Women and Juvenile Jail, Karachi.

The ceremony was graced by Minister for Prisons Hassan Ali Zardari, IG Prisons Fida Hussain Mastoi, DIG prison Syeda Sheeba Shah, and other respected guests.

The inmates presented inspiring performances filled with patriotism and talent. Their efforts were warmly appreciated, and appreciation gifts were distributed to encourage their positive participation and rehabilitation.

The celebration concluded with a joyful cake-cutting ceremony with the distinguished guests.

🇵🇰 Happy Independence Day! Building an Inclusive and Empowered Pakistan! 🇵🇰

On the auspicious occasion of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, the **Sindh Persons with Disabilities Protection Authority (SPDPA), under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh, organized a grand celebration to mark the nation's freedom and unity. 🎉✨

The event was graced by Director General Ghulam Farooque Laghari, who performed the official ribbon/cake-cutting ceremony alongside distinguished guests, officers, and team members. The ceremony highlighted the shared commitment toward creating equal opportunities, empowering abilities, and fostering an inclusive society for all citizens.

Access to Justice, Access to Dignity
This PWD (Person with Disability) had been searching for employment for a long time, going from place to place for job related issue but his issue remained unresolved wherever he tried With no other option left, he approached Pakistan Legal United Society
Advocate Kashif Bashir Bharo took up the matter, recognizing it as more than just an employment dispute it is a fundamental right & human rights issue. Persons with disabilities deserve equal opportunity, equal dignity, and equal protection under the law.
A Constitutional Petition (CP) has now been filed on his behalf before the High Court of Sindh at Karachi, in pursuit of the justice he has long been denied.
At PLUS, we believe no one should be left behind and we will keep fighting until every voice is heard. ⚖️🤝

When a voice cannot be heard, justice must still listen. ⚖️💙

For the Deaf Community, sign language is not just a means of communication—it is their voice, identity, and right.

The matter was referred to Pakistan Legal United Society (PLUS), Karachi, by the Sindh Persons with Disabilities Protection Authority (SPDPA) and Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh, for legal assistance regarding the rights of Deaf persons.

Sign language must be recognized, respected, and made accessible so that every Deaf person can communicate, work, seek justice, and live with dignity.

With the support of ConnectHear’s sign language interpretation service, PLUS was able to understand their concerns and provide legal assistance in their own language.

Independence Day Celebration – A Healthier Pakistan

Honored to be part of the Independence Day Celebration centered on the inspiring theme, “Healthier Communities, Healthier Pakistan,” where I had the privilege of serving as a Guest Speaker and delivering the Closing Remarks in my capacity as President, Rotary Club of Karachi Silver Sands.

It was especially meaningful to share this occasion with distinguished guests, including the Chief Guest, Honourable Governor of Sindh, Syed Nehal Hashmi; Guest of Honour, MPA Shariq Jamal; Dr. Fahad Shafiq, Coordinator Sindh, PMYP; and the Dean & Chancellor of Ziauddin University.

The celebration beautifully highlighted the importance of community well-being, collective responsibility, health, and social engagement in building a stronger and healthier Pakistan.

I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to Fatima Khalfan, Vcare Social Welfare Society; Sarwat N. Shah, Rotary Club of Karachi Silver Sands; and the Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery, Ziauddin University, for organizing such a meaningful and purposeful celebration.

A special moment of honour was the presentation of a Token of Appreciation Shield to our CEO by the Honourable Governor of Sindh, in recognition of his contribution and participation in this important occasion.
