VITAL Pakistan Trust

VITAL Pakistan Trust VPT, established in 2013, providing free health-care services to Mothers and Children across Sindh.

VITAL’s story began in Rehri Goth – an impoverished peri-urban community of over 60,000 residents on the outskirts of Karachi, Pakistan. Through baseline surveys conducted in the community in 2012 and 2013, we learnt that Rehri Goth had a neonatal mortality of 57 deaths per thousand live births and an under-5 mortality of 107 deaths per thousand live births. A comprehensive vision of health was ne

eded to help those who were consistently being left behind. Currently, Vital Pakistan Trust is present in over 40 sites across Karachi, providing free health-care services to Mothers and Children.

Midwives empower women with knowledge about pregnancy, newborn care, nutrition, hygiene, and birth spacing. By educating mothers and families, they help communities make informed health decisions and build healthier futures for the next generation.

Behind every safe delivery, every healthy newborn, and every healed mother in the communities we serve- there is a nurse.

On International Nurses Day 2026, we celebrate the theme "Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives" and the dedicated nursing workforce that powers VITAL Pakistan Trust's mission. From bedside care to community outreach, our nurses are the quiet force transforming maternal and child health across Sindh.
To our nurses- your work changes lives. Thank you. 🌷

VPT warmly wishes all the mothers out there a Happy Mother’s Day! To become a mother requires strength and courage, and it is important to celebrate the resilience of mothers.

But today is also an important reminder that no woman should have to risk her life to give life. This is why VPT hopes to keep providing services to ensure every mother has access to safe and quality maternal healthcare.

VITAL Pakistan Trust (VPT) continues to expand access to birth spacing services by reaching communities where unmet need is highest. As part of this commitment, the VPT Birth Spacing team actively participates in free medical camps, including Sunday outreach activities, in collaboration with partner organizations.

On 30 April, VPT also took part in the Family Health Mela organized with the Population Welfare Department Sindh (PWD) in Malir district. During these outreach events, the team provided birth spacing counselling, method provision, and referrals, ensuring that underserved populations have access to essential reproductive health services.

Behind every safe pregnancy and healthy newborn is often a midwife- providing care, reassurance, and life-saving support when it matters most.

This International Day of the Midwife, the theme “𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝘄𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀” reminds us of a global reality: we need more skilled hands, more trained professionals, and more investment in frontline care.

At VITAL Pakistan Trust, our midwives are not just healthcare providers, they are trusted members of the communities they serve. We see every day how midwives transform lives- ensuring safer pregnancies, healthier newborns, and stronger communities. It’s time to invest in those who care for life from the very beginning.

Today and every day, we thank them for their unwavering dedication- they are truly the backbone of the care we provide.
