Reenad Rafaqat Mughal, a young climate youth activist and member of the Climate Youth Club of the Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR), was also honored with an award by the Honorable President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in recognition of her active engagement in climate advocacy and youth mobilization.
She has played a meaningful role in promoting climate change awareness through her participation in the Climate Youth Club and has been actively involved in training of trainers (TOT) programs organized by KIIR. Through these initiatives, she has contributed to strengthening youth leadership in environmental action.
Reenad continues to actively lead and support the Climate Youth Club under KIIR, demonstrating commitment to climate education, community engagement, and environmental sustainability.

🌍 World Environment Day 2026 | Muzaffarabad

The Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR), in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), successfully organized the World Environment Day 2026 Conference at the Presidential Hall, Muzaffarabad.

The event was graced by the Honourable President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Ch. Latif Akbar, as Chief Guest, while the session was chaired by the Minister for Climate Change, Madam Nabila Ayub.

The conference brought together government officials, environmental experts, academia, students, and civil society to highlight the urgent need for climate action, environmental protection, and sustainable development in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

Key themes of the discussion included: 🌱 Climate resilience and environmental governance
🌳 Reforestation and natural resource conservation
💧 Water security and glacier protection
🤝 Community participation and youth engagement

🌱 Climate Champions in Action! 🌱

The Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR) successfully organized a plantation drive under its Climate Champions Program in different local areas of Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

More than 40 saplings were planted, including walnut trees, fruit trees, and other environmentally beneficial species. This initiative reflects our commitment to combating climate change, promoting environmental sustainability, and creating a greener future for generations to come.

Every tree planted today is a step towards a healthier planet tomorrow.
