Shifa Organization for Blood Donation is a non-profit organization, founded in the year 2012 and works under the direct supervision of Shifa College of Medicine and Shifa International Hospital. In addition to arranging blood for patients who are not able to find blood donors for themselves, the Organization has worked on various projects for enhancing the knowledge of general public regarding blo
od and transfusion related issues, lowering the existing cultural barriers and designing a Public Awareness Campaign (PAC) in collaboration with Pakistan Red Crescent Society and Safe Blood Transfusion Project by Government of Pakistan (Supervised by Government of Germany). The Organization has also established an online donor database and blood donor registration system which was inaugurated by Chairman, Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Dr. Saeed Elahi on Feb 21, 2015. The Aims and Objectives of the Organization are as follows:
To create awareness among general public, enhancing their knowledge of blood and transfusion related issues and to lower the existing cultural barriers. To sensitize faculty members and students from various institutes and to motivate them to donate blood. To form a network of peer motivators from various batches. To try and evaluate various strategies for donor motivation. To arrange blood donors for patients who are not able to arrange blood for themselves. To develop a database of college and university volunteers for Blood Donation
To make a connection between blood donors and blood recipients. To use electronic and print media for creating awareness regarding voluntary blood donation.
