MGPO with the support of PPAF, successfully organized the Collaborative Dialogue “Strengthening Linkages Between Stakeholders” on 7th May 2026, bringing together key stakeholders, community representatives, and government officials to discuss disaster response mechanisms, climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem restoration, and institutional coordination for sustainable community development and resilience building.

Deputy Commissioner Ghanche, Mr. Iqbal Jan, along with Mr. Muhammad Hassan, Assistant Commissioner Daghoni, and officials from respective departments attended the meeting. Ms. Aisha Khan, CEO of MGPO, welcomed the distinguished guests and all the participants and highlighted the objectives and agenda of the dialogue, emphasizing the importance of collective action, stakeholder coordination, and community-centered approaches to address local challenges and strengthen resilience in the region. MGPO extends sincere gratitude to all participants and partners for their valuable contributions and active engagement in making the dialogue productive and impactful.

🌿 Call for Applications: First-Ever Mountain Women Climate Award 🌿

In her inspiring video message, Ms. Aisha Khan, CEO of MGPO, encouraged women climate leaders from Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral to apply for the first-ever Mountain Women Climate Award.

With the support of ICIMOD, this initiative aims to honor and recognize women who are making remarkable contributions in climate action, environmental protection, and community resilience across mountain regions.

Women creating change at the grassroots level deserve recognition, visibility, and support. This award is a platform to celebrate their leadership and inspire future generations.

ایم جی پی او نے پی پی اے ایف کے تعاون سے گاؤں چنڈو، یونین کونسل تھلے، ضلع گانچھے میں “معرکۂ حق” کی ایک سالہ تکمیل نہایت جوش و جذبے اور بھرپور عوامی شرکت کے ساتھ منائی۔ اس تقریب کے مہمانِ خصوصی اسسٹنٹ کمشنر دغونی جناب محمد حسن، سی ای او ایم جی پی او محترمہ عائشہ خان، اور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ثاقب جعفری تھے، جبکہ نوجوانوں، بزرگوں، خواتین اور مقامی کمیونٹی کی بڑی تعداد نے بھی شرکت کی۔

طلبہ اور بچوں نے معرکۂ حق کی یاد میں مختلف ٹیبلو، قومی نغمے اور خراجِ تحسین پر مبنی پرفارمنس پیش کیں، جن کے ذریعے پاکستان کے اُن بہادر سپاہیوں اور عوام کو خراجِ عقیدت پیش کیا گیا جنہوں نے وطن کی خاطر اپنی جانوں کا نذرانہ پیش کیا، بہادری سے مقابلہ کیا اور ہر چیلنج کے سامنے سرخرو رہے۔ یہ تقریب قومی یکجہتی، حب الوطنی، استقامت اور وطن کے لیے دی جانے والی قربانیوں پر فخر کی عکاس ہے۔

MGPO, with the support of PPAF, celebrated one year of Marka-e-Haq in Village Chando, UC Thalay, District Ghanche, with great enthusiasm and community participation. The event was honored by the presence of Assistant Commissioner Daghoni Mr. Muhammad Hasan, CEO MGPO Ms. Aisha Khan, and Professor Dr. Saqib Jaferey as chief guests, alongside a large gathering of youth, elders, women, and local community members.

Students and children presented different tableaux, national performances, and tribute acts to commemorate the spirit of Marka-e-Haq, paying heartfelt honor to the brave soldiers and people of Pakistan who sacrificed their lives for the nation, fought courageously, and remained unbeaten in the face of challenges. The celebration reflected unity, patriotism, resilience, and pride in the sacrifices made for the country.

🌱 MGPO, with support from the International Growth Centre (IGC), in partnership with City St George’s, University of London, and in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, Gilgit-Baltistan, conducted a one-day Climate Smart Agriculture training on 21st April 2026 at Community Hall, Village Chundu Thally, District Ghanche, Gilgit-Baltistan.

👩‍🌾👨‍🌾 The session was attended by 43 farmers (26 male and 17 female).
📚 Key topics included climate-resilient crops, water conservation, organic & bio-fertilizers, soil moisture management, smart irrigation techniques, and climate-smart seed sowing methods.

🧑‍🏫 Participants actively engaged in group chart presentations and hands-on practical demonstrations of raised bed sowing, line sowing, and sprinkler irrigation.

💬 The training received highly positive feedback, with farmers expressing strong motivation to adopt climate-smart practices for enhanced productivity and resilience in mountain agriculture.

🌍 This initiative aims to build a sustainable future for the farming communities of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Flood Protection Wall – Village Chando

🔔 Progress Update (Overall 90% FPW completion)
🤝 Implemented by MGPO | Funded by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF)

The Flood Protection Wall at Village Chando (UC Thalay, District Ghanche, Gilgit-Baltistan) has achieved 90% overall completion, with work progressing in full swing despite harsh weather conditions. ⛏️ Excavation, stone filling, and installation of gabion wire are 100% complete, while 🏗️ backfilling, site clearance, and project signboard installation are currently underway—demonstrating steady progress toward strengthening flood resilience and safeguarding the local community.
