Last weekend, Safari Club International (SCI) and the Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF) attended the 72nd General Assembly of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation in Vienna, Austria.
Over the course of two days, Dr. Chris Comer, Jeremy Clare, and Juan Magaz, alongside hundreds of international delegates, engaged in substantive discussions centered on the evolving concept of the “wildlife economy.” The Assembly also facilitated a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings, reinforcing its role as a key platform for collaboration among global conservation stakeholders.
During the General Assembly, Luis de la Peña was elected as the new President of CIC. SCI extends its sincere congratulations to Mr. de la Peña and expresses its deep appreciation to outgoing President Philipp Harmer for his leadership and partnership over the past six years.
SCI and CIC continue to work closely on shared priorities, particularly within the framework of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, and have explored opportunities to further strengthen cooperation, including initiatives in European conservation projects.
