Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS) has been registered in AJK since 2006, as a Social Welfare Society for disaster relief and development work under The Pakistan Societies Registration Act, 1860. In 2016, at the direction of the Interior Ministry of Pakistan, CDRS registered in Pakistan so we could continue legally operating in Pakistan. CDRS is a humanitarian relief and dev

elopment organization responding to human suffering in emergency and disasters anywhere in Pakistan, serving Human Beings regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, class, location, religion, color, or background. In addition to our emergency relief efforts during or after natural or man-made disasters, we also work on long term health relief programs such as health system support and rehabilitation, Special Patients, Mother & Child Health Care, Youth Community Service, Women’s Empowerment and Animal Welfare. Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS) was created by Todd Shea after his deployment to Pakistan in October 2005 to assist with the earthquake relief efforts. Seeing great need would exist long after the emergency was over and having fallen in love with Pakistan and its people, Todd decided to stay in Pakistan. Todd and CDRS were awarded the Tamgha-i-Eisaar medal from Pakistan and the organization has deployed hundreds of volunteers to serve the most deserving communities in Pakistan. Disaster Response Expertise (Emergencies and Long Term): CDRS has responded to multiple disasters in Pakistan, providing much needed logistics and medical support services to communities in need. We have a well-experienced team of logisticians, medical personnel and volunteers who have extensive experience, and an in-depth understanding of local conditions, geography and culture. CDRS has a rapid deployment team which goes into disasters, and following detailed needs assessment, we provide humanitarian assistance; supplies, security and logistics support to medical teams; livelihood assistance as well as help communities with localized needs. CDRS works in close collaboration with all levels of government, regional and national partner agencies to help rehabilitate and revive local communities and re-established their destroyed health facilities and devastated healthcare systems. • March 2020 – May 2021 – Covid-19 Pandemic (Food distribution all over Pakistan)
• September – October 2020 – Floods in Sindh (Food, Water, Mosquito Nets, Tents distribution in Umerkot, Badin, Thar, and Karachi)
• Oct 2015 – March 2016 – Earthquake in KPK (Mobile Medical Teams and Tents distribution in KPK)
• June 2015 – Heat Wave Emergency (Distributed Food, Water and Medicines in Karachi)
• Sept 2014 – Jan 2015 – Floods (Mobile Medical Teams in Punjab and AJK)
• July 2014 – May 2015 – N. Waziristan IPDs Crisis (Health System Support & Medical Teams in Bannu)
• Sept 2013 – Floods (Mobile Medical Team in District Kasur)
• Sept 2011 – Aug 2012 – Floods (Food Distribution & Medical Teams in Districts Badin, Thar and Mirpurkhas)
• Aug 2010 – July 2011 – Floods (Mobile Medical Teams deployed for the first three months of the disaster. Long term Maternal and Child Health Projects were begun after the emergency and implemented in Charsadda, KPK, Civil Hospital in Shikarpur, Sindh and Bagh Dheri Hospital in Swat, KPK)
• Sept 2009 – Monsoon Crisis (Medical Teams in Sindh)
• June 2009 – Aug 2008 – Swat IDPs Crisis (Medical Teams and relief distribution in Mardan and Swabi)

Since 2005, CDRS has delivered medical care and relief services to 2.5 million Human Beings impacted by disaster, and provided essential food and supplies, helping to save lives and rehabilitate communities.

Understanding animal behavior is an important part of responsible pet ownership. Many common behaviors, such as scratching, are natural instincts and not signs of disobedience. By learning why animals behave the way they do, we can provide better care and create a healthier environment for both pets and their owners.

Through the CDRS Benji Project of Animal Welfare and Rescue, we are committed to raising awareness about animal behavior, welfare, and responsible pet care. Education and compassion are key to building stronger relationships with the animals who depend on us.

Understanding animals is the first step toward caring for them better.

A Visit That Turned Awareness into Admiration!

During a recent visit to the CDRS Benji Project Animal Welfare Facility, a distinguished member of the GIKI Alumni community shared heartfelt reflections after witnessing firsthand the care and compassion provided to rescued stray animals.

I have known about the work of Salman Raffique and CDRS for several years, but visiting the Benji Facility in person was a truly moving experience. The way the rescued animals are cared for here is heartwarming and inspiring. Seeing the love, attention, and dignity given to these animals touched me deeply.

The visitor expressed particular appreciation for the facility's dedication to medical treatment, rehabilitation, and emotional care. What stood out most was the personal connection between the caregivers and the animals.

They don't see these animals as numbers or cases. They know them by name, understand their individual stories, and treat them with genuine affection. The bond between the team and the rescued animals is a true reflection of the compassion and commitment that defines this initiative.

From injured dogs and rescued cats to abandoned donkeys, every animal at the facility receives care, protection, and a second chance at life. The visitor commended the extraordinary efforts of the CDRS Benji team and recognized the shelter as a remarkable example of animal welfare in Pakistan.

He concluded by expressing his support for the initiative and encouraged others to stand alongside the Benji Project in its mission to rescue and protect vulnerable animals.

When Compassion Speaks for Itself!

During their recent visit to the CDRS Benji Project Animal Welfare Facility, Islamabad, members of the GIKI Alumni community had the opportunity to meet our rescued dogs, cats, and donkeys and witness firsthand the care, rehabilitation, and love being provided to animals in need.

One of the visitors shared a heartfelt reflection, this visit was filled with meaningful interactions, emotional stories, and unforgettable moments with animals who have overcome neglect, abuse, injury, and abandonment. Seeing these rescued souls healthy, playful, and surrounded by compassion left a lasting impact on our guests.

The visitors also highlighted the importance of raising greater awareness about animal welfare in Pakistan and expressed hope that the social media presence of the CDRS Benji Project continues to grow, enabling more people to learn about this mission, support the shelter, and contribute toward the care of even more rescued animals.

After witnessing firsthand the care provided to injured, abandoned, and vulnerable cats, dogs, and donkeys, he expressed deep appreciation for the dedication of the CDRS team in restoring hope, dignity, and life to animals that have nowhere else to turn.

A Day of Smiles, Celebrations & Beautiful Memories!

Today, the CDRS House of Blessings family came together to celebrate the birthday of a truly wonderful supporter, compassionate donor, and dear friend, Shermeen Shah.

The day was filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments as the children gathered to celebrate a special cake-cutting ceremony in her honor. Their bright smiles and cheerful wishes reflected the love and gratitude they hold for someone who has continuously shared kindness and care with them.

To make the occasion even more memorable, the children enjoyed an exciting outing to the park, where they spent the day laughing together, enjoying fun rides, and creating precious memories that they will cherish for years to come. The celebration was made even more special with a sponsored lunch, bringing happiness and togetherness to every child present.

At House of Blessings, birthdays are not simply dates on a calendar—they are opportunities to celebrate the beautiful bonds that connect our children with those who care for them. An Inspiring Visit Filled with Compassion, Learning, and Connection

The CDRS Benji Project Animal Welfare Facility, Islamabad, recently welcomed a special group of visitors—friends and family of CDRS CEO Salman Raffique, including distinguished GIKI alumni, who spent a meaningful day meeting the rescued animals under our care.

During their visit, guests toured the facility and interacted with rescued donkeys, cats, and dogs, many of whom had once suffered from injury, illness, neglect, and abandonment. Seeing these animals healthy, safe, and thriving was a powerful reminder of the impact that compassion and dedicated care can have on vulnerable lives.

The visitors took time to learn the unique story behind each rescue, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by stray animals across Pakistan and the efforts undertaken by the CDRS Benji Project to provide them with protection, treatment, and a second chance at life.

One of the most heartwarming moments came when Blackstar, one of our beloved rescued dogs, enthusiastically welcomed the guests with excitement and affection, instantly winning their hearts. Equally moving was the story of Miracle, a rescued cat whose journey from suffering to recovery left many visitors deeply touched and emotional.

Beyond the tour, the visit became a celebration of empathy, awareness, and shared humanity. Many pet owners unknowingly feed their animals foods that can be harmful to their health. While sharing food may seem like an act of love, certain items such as chocolate, onions, cooked bones, and spicy or oily foods can cause serious health problems for pets.

Through the CDRS Benji Project Awareness Campaign, we are educating communities about responsible pet care, proper nutrition, and animal welfare. Understanding what is safe and unsafe for animals is an important step toward ensuring healthier and happier lives for our furry companions.

For many families in remote and underserved communities, access to clean drinking water is not a convenience—it is a daily struggle. Through the CDRS Clean Water Project, that struggle is being transformed into hope, dignity, and opportunity.

In Hakimabad, Balochistan, what was once a challenge for families is now a source of relief and security. CDRS 2024–2025: Serving Humanity with Compassion

In 2025, Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS) continued its mission across Pakistan, responding to devastating floods and emergencies in KPK, Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan — bringing hope and relief to thousands in need.

Our Clean Water Initiative expanded to nearly 1,000 projects, delivering safe drinking water nationwide. The House of Blessings provided shelter, education, and care for more widows and orphans, while the Benji Project rescued and treated hundreds of animals — with a special update on our beloved camel Cammie!

Together, we continue to serve people, animals, and communities with love and dignity.
