Jefferson’s copy has been on display at the Dubai 2020 Expo for the past several months, making its first trip outside of the United States since1764. The first Muslim Americans elected to Congress — Keith Ellison in 2007 and André Carson in 2008 — were sworn in with their hands resting upon Jefferson’s copy of the Quran.
