Handicap International - Pakistan

Handicap International - Pakistan Handicap International is an independent and impartial international aid organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster

Following the earthquake (measuring 7.6 on the Richter Scale) that hit Northern Pakistan on the 8th October 2005, Handicap International and Atlas Logistique dispatched a joint mission to the area as of 13th October. The first phase of the organisations' work responded to the emergency situation on the ground. The two organisations set up a crisis response programme, with each one focusing on its

area of expertise: physical rehabilitation and fitting for Handicap International and a logistics platform for NGOs for Atlas Logistique. The organisations pooled their administrative and financial resources to maximise the effectiveness of their work. Atlas Logistique left Pakistan after eight months, when the logistics platform programme ended. Handicap International remained in the country to continue its work in the reconstruction phase in the areas affected by the earthquake, where there still remains an enormous amount to be done.
