🌸 Empowering Women Through Skills Development in Abbottabad:
Under the Ba-Ikhtiyar Women Project, supported by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, with technical support from Institute of Rural Management and implemented by Sungi Development Foundation, a training program on decorative item production is currently underway in Abbottabad. The initiative aims to enhance women's vocational skills and create sustainable income opportunities.
Participants are gaining hands-on experience in cooking, dressmaking/tailoring, handicrafts, and embroidery, with a strong emphasis on creativity, design improvement, quality assurance, and product presentation. In addition to technical skills, basic entrepreneurial competencies including pricing, marketing, and customer engagement are also being introduced.
The training brings together women from diverse backgrounds in a supportive and collaborative environment that promotes confidence, peer learning, and teamwork. A total of 100 women are actively participating in the hand embroidery training component, where they are acquiring practical skills and valuable hands-on experience. The training environment remains highly engaging, with participants demonstrating remarkable interest and dedication in mastering new techniques.
Through this initiative, women are not only enhancing their skills but also building self-confidence, empowering themselves to launch small businesses, support their families, and move toward financial independence. The program is creating new pathways for economic empowerment and paving the way for a brighter, more self-reliant future for women in the community.
