🇵🇰 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: From Strategic Gateway to Regional Economic Hub
“Pakistan’s growing international recognition must translate into investment, industrial development, and meaningful economic opportunities for its people.”
Delivering the keynote address at the Provincial Conference on Pakistan’s Emerging Role in Global Mediation, Strategic Diplomacy, Conflict Resolution, and Economic Opportunities, H.E. Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighted Pakistan’s growing international relevance and the opportunities emerging from its evolving diplomatic position.
Governor Kundi observed that Pakistan is increasingly being viewed through a more balanced and positive lens, reflecting the country’s strategic maturity, responsibility, and diplomatic engagement in recent regional and international developments.
He described Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a historic gateway connecting South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East, emphasizing that the province’s strategic location gives it enormous potential to become a hub for regional trade, investment, tourism, energy, and cross-border connectivity.
The Governor highlighted KP’s significant potential in minerals, hydropower, oil and gas, gemstones, agriculture, and tourism, stressing the need to move beyond the export of raw resources by developing value-added industries, including mineral processing and oil refineries. Such investments, he noted, can create employment, strengthen local economies, and ensure that communities benefit directly from the province’s natural wealth.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi identified economic diplomacy as a critical pillar of Pakistan’s future development strategy. He called for greater use of diplomatic engagement to attract foreign investment, expand trade, promote tourism, and advance educational, technological, and cultural cooperation with international partners.
He also emphasized the importance of a business-friendly investment environment, including one-window facilitation, stronger federal-provincial coordination, and greater support for industrialists, entrepreneurs, farmers, and overseas Pakistanis.
Highlighting Pakistan’s youth as the country’s greatest national asset, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi called for sustained investment in quality education, vocational training, entrepreneurship, innovation, and modern technology.
He further stressed that sustainable peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is fundamental to investment, industrialization, tourism, and long-term prosperity.
Concluding his address, Governor Kundi proposed taking Pakistan’s diplomatic and policy dialogue to major international capitals—including Washington, Beijing, Brussels, Geneva, Vienna, Moscow, and London—to strengthen international partnerships and project Pakistan’s positive narrative.
