THINK GLOBALLY
ACT LOCALLY
Today, I had the privilege of speaking, in my capacity as Founding Director/ CEO of the International Governance and Sustainability Institute (IG-SI) and chairperson of United Peacekeepers Federal Council (UNPKFC) at a student webinar organised by One Step For Pakistan on the theme, "Think Globally, Act Locally – Everyone is a Change-Maker for Pakistan's Sustainable Future."
During my presentation, I introduced students to the concept of Sustainable Development, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Pakistan's current progress and ranking in achieving the SDGs. We also explored the immense potential of Pakistan's youth, who constitute nearly 64% of the country's population, to become catalysts for sustainable development and positive change in their communities.
I encouraged students to join the "Hum Hain Pakistan" SDG Youth Campaign—a collaborative initiative of IG-SI and the SDG Parliamentary Task Force—as volunteers and play an active role in advancing the SDGs. Building a sustainable, peaceful, and prosperous Pakistan requires informed, committed, and action-oriented young leaders.
The webinar also featured insightful presentations by Khayyam Akbar Retired Ambassador and Major General ( Rtd) Dr. Shamrez Salik, whose valuable perspectives further enriched the discussion.
Together, let us think globally, act locally, and empower our youth to become the driving force behind Pakistan's sustainable future.
