Solar Powered Schools for Girls in Pakistan

Solar Powered Schools for Girls in Pakistan Donate $5 or more and help build Solar Powered Classrooms for Girls in Pakistan! Why we need your help? And we are sure you'll love it!

Imagine an extremely hot classroom with no electricity in a temperature of 40 ℃ during summers, or too less light in a classroom during winter when bad weather shut down the power. A solar powered school which can help run at least 3 ceiling fans and 6 energy saver lights would not be less than a blessing for little angels. We set an initial target to raise USD 30,000 to equip as many schools as possible with each school to run 3 fans and 6 light bulbs on solar. Inspiration behind the idea;

In extremely hot summers when temperature crosses 45 Degree Celsius, the campaign lead Asif Iqbal designed a project which attracted a private company install solar panels in a public health facility. Watch the story here; http://www.wionews.com/videos/pakistans-first-solar-powered-government-hospital-1484

Now poor patients, especially children and women, are able to get timely health care services without any interruption to power supply essential for running critical health units. This success story in fact challenged Asif' passion to take a step further and help vulnerable school children- girls and boys continue their education by equipping their schools with solar panels. The Real Need

In Pakistan, 48% schools are without electricity. During summers when the electricity deficit reaches 5000MW, power cuts off for 8 to 12 hours every day. Little angels are at the brunt of extreme heat who have to spend their school day without running fans or light in the classroom. The situation would get worse with increasing trend of heatwave due to adverse impacts of climate change. Even the winter season brings challenge to school children when classrooms have no sufficient light in the absence of electricity. The Fundraising Initiative

The donations will help us equip schools with installation of solar panels which could run at least 3 ceiling fans and 6 lights/energy savers in each school. We will outreach both the girls and boys public schools, however girls schools will get the priority in this initiative. The process

Lighting up a school with solar panels will follow a simple community owned process. The step by step process will involve;

A formal agreement with School Management Committee (SMC) to ensure engagement of school authority in operational work and necessary maintenance in future
Installation of Solar Panels with necessary accessaries, sufficient to run 3 ceiling fans and 6 energy saves
Awareness of schools girls & boys, along with school teachers on "Solar Power- A Solution to Fight Climate Change"

We will acknowledge our individual donors for their generous support to school girls and boys in more innovative way!!
