The outcome of the ceasefire closely reflects the key observations and recommendations put forward by CDSA. In this regard, CDSA reiterates the following:
1. As emphasized during the April 5 webinar, negotiations should not be perceived as a sign of weakness, but rather as an essential instrument for achieving sustainable peace and stability.
2. CDSA regards the ceasefire as a constructive step forward, achievement and a significant victory for regional peace.
3. The organization commends all parties involved, particularly the political and military leadership, whose efforts have contributed positively to enhancing the country’s international standing.
4. CDSA recognizes the diplomatic efforts underpinning the ceasefire as a notable milestone, reflective of Pakistan’s evolving and proactive best foreign policy approach in the history.
5. A critical element of the negotiations was the principle of parity and mutual respect between the parties, which CDSA considers essential for meaningful and productive dialogue, President Donald Trump’s importance given to Iran’s ten points indicates that Iran, as a party, deserves respect and equality.
6. CDSA had identified the Strait of Hormuz as a strategically significant factor, acknowledging that its management played an important role in facilitating the negotiations.
7. The Islamabad Accord, previously highlighted by CDSA, has now gained consensus among stakeholders, with formalization expected in due course.
8. CDSA appreciates the restraint demonstrated by Arab states, as well as Pakistan’s balanced diplomatic engagement with both Iran and the Arab world, which contributed positively to the outcome.
9. Pakistan’s role as a facilitator has been widely acknowledged, underscoring its responsibility to promote dialogue, CDSA’s press release emphasized that Pakistan, as a mediator, bears greater responsibility and must facilitate understanding between both sides, making points more acceptable and easier to comprehend.
10. CDSA also notes that concerns regarding potential escalation, including the risk of nuclear confrontation, were significant, and the ceasefire represents a critical step back from such dangers because the world has indeed come back from the brink of nuclear war, with both sides preparing for it.
11. The organization highlights that effective diplomacy requires comprehensive engagement, consensus-building, and the alignment of interests—principles reflected in the current development due to Pakistani role.
12. The success of the negotiations further underscores the importance of trust-building measures and credible assurances between the parties, which was successfully achieved.
13. CDSA recognizes the challenges inherent in Pakistan’s role as a mediator, particularly given the sensitivities in its relations with key regional stakeholders, with Saudi Arabia and Iran becoming difficult in the last 24 hours of the ceasefire.
14. The relatively limited involvement of European actors was also noted, with most maintaining a cautious distance from direct engagement.
15. CDSA reiterates the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement and continuous communication channels between all stakeholders.
16. The organization is encouraged by the recognition and appreciation expressed by various diplomatic missions regarding its analytical contributions.
17. CDSA observes that the broader global context remains complex, with both sides not only continuing the use of dangerous weapons but also preparing for large-scale attacks alongside negotiations.
18. Positive feedback from diplomatic circles and the public further reinforces the relevance and impact of CDSA’s analysis.
19. CDSA remains committed to continuing its research, dialogue, and policy engagement in support of peace and stability.
