During a delicate surgery, as a tumor was being removed from a young woman’s salivary glands, Dr. Oguz Basut suddenly began to feel unusually weak. He had suffered from food poisoning the day before, and now his blood pressure was rapidly dropping. However, since the tumor was located dangerously close to a highly sensitive facial nerve, halting the operation could have posed serious risks to the patient.
Remaining determined, Dr. Basut asked his colleagues to insert an IV drip into his right leg so that he could continue the surgery while seated. Within minutes, his blood pressure returned to normal, and the operation was successfully completed.

A photo from that moment—showing Dr. Basut calmly performing surgery with an IV attached—quickly went viral on social media. The president of Bursa Uludağ University, Ahmet Saim Kilavuz, shared the image and praised the surgeon’s dedication and resilience.

However, Dr. Basut downplayed the praise and said:
"I’m not a hero. I believe any professional in my place would have done the same."
