The Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF) Gilgit-Baltistan Chapter participated in the World Environment Day 2026 celebration on the invitation of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and the Gilgit-Baltistan Rural Support Programme (GBRSP).

The event brought together representatives from government institutions, development organizations, civil society, environmental experts, youth leaders, and climate activists to discuss pressing environmental challenges and sustainable solutions for the region.

*Mr. Ahbab Ullah Qureshi, President of PCF Gilgit-Baltistan, attended the event alongside members of the PCF Gilgit-Baltistan team. The gathering provided a valuable platform for dialogue and collaboration on key issues including climate change, glacier melting, biodiversity conservation, environmental pollution, and sustainable development.

Participants emphasized the importance of collective action, environmental awareness, youth engagement, and community-led initiatives to protect the fragile ecosystems of Gilgit-Baltistan and strengthen climate resilience across the region.

PCF Gilgit-Baltistan extends its sincere appreciation to PPAF and GBRSP for organizing this meaningful event and creating opportunities for stakeholders to work together for a sustainable future.

World Environment Day 2026

The Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF) in collaboration with the Women Development Organization (WDO) in celebrating World Environment Day 2026, bringing together youth, women, and community leaders to raise awareness about environmental protection and climate action.

We were honored to welcome Ms. Anum Malik Mengal from HOPE Organization as the Chief Guest, along with Ms. Laraib Ghaffar, Psychologist and Women's Rights Activist, whose valuable insights inspired participants to become active advocates for environmental sustainability and social change.

The event served as a platform to discuss pressing environmental challenges, promote climate awareness, and encourage collective action toward building a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.

One of the highlights of the PCF Climate Youth Summit Lahore 2026 was the recognition of our distinguished Youth Panelists and Expert Panelists who contributed their valuable insights, experiences, and perspectives on climate action, sustainability, and youth leadership.

Following the engaging Youth Panel Discussion, shields of appreciation were presented to the Youth Panelists by Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor, UET Lahore, alongside Tawseef Khan, Founder & CEO of the Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF), in recognition of their commitment to advancing youth-led climate action and meaningful dialogue.

Distinguished Chief Guest and Guest of Honour Grace the PCF Climate Youth Summit Lahore 2026

The Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF) was honored to welcome Cdre Ehsan Ahmed Khan SI(M), Deputy President, Maritime Centre of Excellence, Pak Navy War College Lahore, as the Chief Guest, and Ms. Nazifa Butt, Director Climate Action & Sustainability, WWF-Pakistan, as the Guest of Honour at the PCF Climate Youth Summit Lahore 2026.

Both distinguished guests were warmly received by the PCF team and participants. Their presence and insightful remarks greatly enriched the summit's dialogue on climate action, sustainability, and youth engagement.

In his keynote address, Cdre Ehsan Ahmed Khan SI(M) highlighted the often-overlooked environmental impacts of conflicts and wars, emphasizing how military activities and armed conflicts contribute significantly to global carbon emissions and environmental degradation. He encouraged youth to advocate for peace and sustainability as interconnected priorities for the future.

Ms. Nazifa Butt shared valuable insights on the changing climate patterns in Pakistan, drawing attention to the alarming rise in nighttime temperatures. She emphasized that increasing night temperatures are a critical indicator of climate change, affecting human health, agriculture, ecosystems, and overall climate resilience.

As a token of appreciation, shields were presented to both esteemed guests by the Progressive Climate Foundation in recognition of their contributions to climate awareness, sustainability, and youth empowerment.
