Climate-Resilient Infrastructure is the Need of the Time: SCF, PPAF Inaugurate Sanitation Schemes and Supporting Facilities in Coastal Sindh

We are proud to share that the Sindh Community Foundation (SCF), with the support of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), has inaugurated a series of climate-resilient sanitation and health facilities in the coastal areas of Thatta, Sindh.

The initiative inaugurated by Mr. Sadiq Memon, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) fromDistrict Thatta, aims to strengthen community resilience through the β€œRestoration of Social Services and Climate Resilience” project in Union Councils Garho and Bijora.

These new facilities, including solar-powered systems, eco-friendly waiting areas for women at BHU Garho and 60 sanitation units across five villages, will benefit more than 5,000 residents, mainly for women. The interventions focus on ensuring safe, sustainable, and uninterrupted health and sanitation services, particularly for women and vulnerable groups.

As climate change continues to impact coastal livelihoods, this collaboration between communities, civil society, and development partners demonstrates how localized, climate-smart infrastructure can protect lives and secure a dignified future.
