Pakistan Youth Outreach Foundation (PYOF) Celebrates 14 Years of Excellence in Mountaineering and Winter Sports Training
Islamabad, January 14, 2024 – Today marks the 14th anniversary of the Pakistan Youth Outreach Foundation (PYOF), an organization that has not just stood the test of time but has also become synonymous with leadership in promoting outdoor and winter sports. Under the visionary guidance of Mr. Mirza Ali and Ms. Samina Baig, PYOF has carved out a remarkable legacy in the realm of mountaineering.
Reflecting on over a decade of accomplishments, PYOF takes pride in its role as a breeding ground for accomplished mountaineers. Many of its alumni have conquered peaks, led commercial expeditions, and have now taken up key roles as chief instructors. Beyond individual achievements, PYOF is unwavering in its commitment to fostering sustainable youth entrepreneurship and promoting winter tourism.
The 14th annual mountaineering and winter survival training camp held on the Malangudi Glacier in Shimshal Valley stands as a testament to PYOF's dedication. The camp, attended by 45 participants from various cities, not only showcased the determination of aspiring mountaineers but also underlined the organization's commitment to nurturing talent.
Mirza Ali, the driving force behind PYOF, emphasized the remarkable progress in promoting winter sports and tourism in Pakistan. He highlighted the crucial need for skilled high-altitude porters and guides to unlock the full potential of commercial expeditions. Mirza Ali also stressed the importance of engaging youth in outdoor activities as a healthy alternative to digital addiction, fostering both physical fitness and mental well-being.
Participants, such as Mr. Raja Maleeh from Karachi and Mr. Massam Tamar from Skardu, spoke glowingly about the impact of these camps on skill development and motivation. International participant Ms. Milenka from Macedonia expressed her love for Pakistan and pledged to return with friends, lauding the unique purpose of the training camp.
Founding president Ms. Samina Baig, a trailblazer herself, celebrated the overwhelming participation of women in the event. She encouraged young girls to surmount challenges and play vital roles in society, embodying the spirit of empowerment that PYOF strives to instill.
The 6th National Ice Climbing Championship, a thrilling component of the anniversary celebrations, witnessed Mr. Arif Hussain from Skardu and Ms. Abida Amjad from Chipursan Gojal emerging as champions in their respective categories.
As PYOF concludes yet another successful event, Mirza Ali extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team and participants. The foundation reaffirms its commitment to providing future training for aspiring mountaineers and high-altitude porters, contributing to the growth of the industry and the betterment of individuals and the nation. With each passing year, PYOF continues to soar to new heights, leaving an indelible mark on Pakistan's sports and adventure landscape.
