"Comrade Baba Jan, a true son of the soil, joined the protest and assured the participants that if their demands are not met, the Awami Action Committee will join forces and announce a series of protests to safeguard the natural resources of the region. He pledged to stand in solidarity with the protesters and intensify the struggle until their legitimate demands are fulfilled.

Protest against unacceptable amendments in MCR 2024

A delegation of Minerals associations met with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gilgit today to discuss tomorrow's protest and rally. The delegation assured the DC that the protest will be held in a peaceful and orderly manner, and engaged in a constructive discussion with him about their demands, issues, and possible resolutions. The DC assured the delegation that he will play a positive and supportive role in resolving the issues, and committed to facilitating a constructive dialogue between the associations and relevant authorities. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing their commitment to finding mutually beneficial solutions.

Tomorrow on 5th September a protest has been called by all associations of gems and minerals operating in Gilgit Baltistan ( Pakistan Gemstone and minerals association, Gilgit Baltistan Metals Minerals and Gems association, Nagar Gems association, Baltistan gems and minerals association) regarding to the
1. Unfair amendments in mining concession rules.
2. sudden and unfair increase in royalties and rates in finance act 2024.
3. Cancellation of leases of locals.
4. Ban and hurdles in obtaining explosive materials for mining purpose.
5. Restrictions and hurdles on obtaining NOC for foreign investors.
6. Restrictions on gems trading.
Protest rally shall start from office of Directorate of mines and minerals konadas 10 am Gilgit to chief secretary office Gilgit.
All miners and traders related to gems and minerals sector are hereby requested to join this protest to protect their rights and protect their minerals resources of Gilgit Baltistan.
