Snow Leopard Signs Spotted in Gyari Valley | GCC Watch Wing Patrol
During a routine patrol by the Goma Conservation Committee (GCC) Watch Wing, a remarkable development was observed in Gyari Valley.
While conducting a field assessment, the team discovered fresh snow leopard footprints, indicating the presence of this rare and elusive predator in the area. Despite extensive efforts and careful searching, the snow leopard itself could not be sighted.
However, the patrol team also came across the remains of an ibex skin, which is likely evidence of a recent hunt, possibly by the snow leopard.
Such findings highlight the rich and dynamic ecosystem of the Saltoro Valley, where predator and prey coexist in a delicate natural balance. These observations also emphasize the importance of continued monitoring and conservation efforts to protect this unique wildlife habitat.
