The Department of International Relations at GCUF and the Society for Peace and Social Harmony (SPASH), in collaboration with the Association of Women for Awareness and Motivation (AWAM) Pakistan and the Chanan Development Association (CDA), pulled together a seminar to mark International Human Rights Day. The theme for the event, "Our Rights – Our Future – Right Now," set the tone for an engaging and thought-provoking discussion. The seminar was chaired by Prof. Rauf-i-Azam, while Mrs. Qudsia Batool, MPA (PML-N) and Syndicate Member, stepped in as the Guest of Honour. Among the distinguished guests who pitched in were Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, Chairperson of the International Relations Department and In-Charge SPASH; Ms. Sonia Patras, Deputy Director AWAM; Ms. Sonia Javed, Programme Coordinator AWAM; Dr. Rizwan Ullah Kokab, Chairperson of the History Department; Dr. Irum Sultana from the Mass Communication Department. The event drew in 135 participants, including faculty members and research scholars from a wide range of social science disciplines. It aimed to emphasize on the significance of government-established human rights institutions, discussing their effectiveness in keeping up with international human rights commitments, and brainstorm how youth can step up to bolster these mechanisms. By sparking meaningful discussions, the seminar managed to strike a chord with attendees, driving home the importance of working hand in hand to safeguard human rights and pave the way for an inclusive future.
