Let's Question

Let's Question A journey to question the unquestioned. Why Let's Question? It requires an open mind and a willingness to challenge our own biases and preconceptions.

"Journey to question the unquestioned" refers to the process of examining and challenging beliefs, assumptions, and systems that are typically accepted without question. This journey involves asking critical questions and seeking out new perspectives to gain a deeper understanding of the world around us. This journey can lead to personal growth, new insights, and the ability to effect positive change in ourselves and the world.

Let’s Question is an initiative designed to collaborate with educational institutions across Pakistan to create impactful co-curricular activity programs that enhance leadership, confidence, and opportunities for students.

Through this program, students will experience hands-on learning that bridges classroom knowledge with real-world application. Activities will include debates, sports, critical thinking exercises, arts, artificial intelligence, and more — empowering them to become well-rounded, future-ready individuals.

This initiative is proudly part of the ECO_Schools Leadership Fellowship, launched through the inspiring partnership between ALIF (Academic Leaders’ Innovation Forum) and the UCL Institute of Education. It contributes to Pakistan’s first nationwide movement for sustainability in schools, aiming to activate 1 million+ changemakers in the next 5 years.

A heartfelt thank you to Aruj Khaliq, Founder of ECO_Schools, and Naima Qureshi, Co-Founder, for their visionary leadership and dedication to transforming education in Pakistan. I’m truly grateful to be part of this powerful journey.

In Pakistan, the current educational framework imposes substantial demands on students, leading to notable mental health challenges. Research indicates that approximately 17% of children aged 5–11 exhibit emotional and behavioral issues severe enough to cause significant distress or social impairment.

A typical student’s day often includes 6-7 hours at school, followed by 2-3 hours in tuition centers, and an additional hour dedicated to Quranic studies. This rigorous schedule leaves minimal time for recreational activities, family interaction, or personal relaxation, all of which are essential for holistic development. The absence of these activities can contribute to increased stress and anxiety among students.

Moreover, societal pressures, such as parents frequently comparing their children to peers or relatives, can exacerbate feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem. While the global educational landscape has evolved to emphasize critical thinking and interpersonal skills, the Pakistani system often remains rooted in traditional rote-learning methods. This approach may hinder the development of confidence and effective communication abilities in students.

In an attempt to compensate for limited engagement, parents might provide gadgets without proper supervision, leading to excessive screen time. A survey by the Pakistan Pediatric Association found that approximately 80% of children aged 6-18 spend an average of 4-6 hours per day on screens, which can further impact their mental and physical health.

Teachers and parents play pivotal roles in mitigating these challenges. Establishing open, supportive, and understanding relationships with children encourages them to express their concerns and reduces feelings of isolation. By fostering such environments, we can promote better mental health and overall well-being among students.
