Chitral Heritage and Environment Protection Society CHEPS is aimed at recording and preserving the unique heritage of Chitral and stresses the need of balance ecosystem for the good.

Chitral Heritage and Environment Preservation Society (CHEPS) originated as a subsidiary organ of Rahmat Capacity Building Centre (RCBC) on 5 June 2009. It formally started functioning in July 2009. As stated in its Memorandum of Association and bylaws, CHEPS is a non-official, non-party and non-profit making organization. Its objectives are to record and preserve the unique heritage of Chitral an

d to create awareness about environmental degradation and global climate change. The organization lays particular emphasis on disseminating information about the adverse effects of global climatic change on high mountainous areas like Chitral. The organization is constantly engaged in awareness-creating and information-sharing programmes on environment and health related issues. It collaborates... with other civil society organizations and advocacy groups to promote a healthy social, cultural and natural environment in Chitral. Some activities of CHEPS include:

• Environmental Societies in 603 educational institutes across Chitral have been established
• 712 environmental societies at village level have been established
• Environmental committees in different governmental and non-governmental bodies have been established in close collaboration with the District government Chitral
• Awareness Campaign about environment
• Free medical camp in August. Medicines worth Rs. 7,50,000
• Environmental Awareness walks in Peshawar and Islamabad
• Awards citation ceremony for the elders of Chitral who have rendered exemplary service in different walks of life
• Poetry recital programme on environment
