We are team of passionate divers, swimmers and rescurers who are promoting water sports in Pakistan. Chiniot district is right on the banks of the river Chenab, most of people including me and a few of my friends, used to spend most of our time at the river in boating surfing or swimming, fishing and just kick’in back. There were always these accidents at the river when people drowned and lost th
eir lives because there was no system or any team which prohabitated the peoples to go in deep water without any equipment or swimming exercise, so that it may reduce the chances of life losts, when an accident occure, it was the local fishermen, who used to retrieve dead bodies from the river, since there was no regular rescue service here. A few years back there was an accident here, where 5 people from a single family died trying to save each other. I worked alongside others to recover the 5 dead bodies. That was an awful experience, that was time when my friends and I discussed the situation and we were convinced that it was inhuman to stay aside and not help people in distress, we decided and Lucky Rescue & Water Sports were founded. Later on we got registred as Lucky Rescue and Water Sports Organization and start, of course we didn’t have any training for rescue work or even equipment, but our resolve was strong. The district administration also encouraged us and appreciated our effort. From then on we tried to come to people’s help and try hard to minimize the cahnces of any accidents here. Water is not only a necessary part of human energy resources; it is also a source of recreation. When we talk about recreation and especially water based recreation we first of all think of swimming and then we need some time to think of such things as ball games played in the water (water polo for example), diving (spring board etc) etc. Of course fishing is also a sort of recreation, especially if it is sports fishing, but in countries like Pakistan water biking, speed boating, kite surfing, parasailing, water skiing, knee-boarding, canoeing and rafting are more rare than oasis in the desert. In Pakistan water biking, speed boating, knee boarding, water skiing and parasailing were done only by military personnel and was done not as a sport but as a part of training. But we can claim proudly here that all mentioned above activities performed by civilians.
