🇵🇰 Celebrating Independence by Creating a Little More Hope
This Independence Day felt different.
The heart was heavy, and at times, celebration itself felt almost mechanical. Yet perhaps that is exactly when we need to find meaning in how we celebrate.
We chose to spend the day with the wonderful children of Noor ul Quran Trust, turning it into a celebration filled with laughter, games, quizzes, food, cake cutting, and gift hampers. Despite everything, the children’s energy and enthusiasm were unmatched, and their happiness gave the day a meaning of its own.
This celebration was not an isolated activity. It is part of our sustained commitment to gradually renovate the orphanage and create a safer, happier, and more nurturing environment for the children who call it home. Real impact, after all, is not created in a day. It comes from showing up consistently.
A very special thank you to Nigehdaar, Nabeela, Khazina, and everyone else who contributed their time, resources, and energy to make this beautiful day possible.
And while we celebrated, my thoughts remained with the countless children across Pakistan whose childhoods continue to be affected by conflict, violence, and terrorism. I pray that when Independence Day comes around next year, their reality is different. May they experience a Pakistan that is safer, more peaceful, more joyful, and truly free. Ameen.
I couldn’t resist speaking about what weighs on the heart. As Ahmed Faraz so beautifully said:
“میرا قلم تو امانت ہے میرے ضمیر کی”
Perhaps our voices, our resources, and our privileges are also an amanat. What matters is how we choose to use them.
🇵🇰 This Independence Day, let us celebrate Pakistan not only by raising flags, but by raising hopes.
If you can contribute your time, skills, resources, or support to a child or community around you, please do. Small acts, when sustained, can create lasting change.
May the next 14th August be brighter for every child of Pakistan. 🇵🇰
