🌐 Proud moment for COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore campus and the STEM Career Program!
🔖 Mr. Sualeh Asif, Co-founder of Cursor, is in the spotlight following reports of a $60 billion bid interest from the owner of X.
📝 Mr. Sualeh was trained for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus from 2016 to 2018, before pursuing his undergraduate studies at MIT.
✅ The Department of Mathematics at CUI, Lahore Campus serves as a national center for training Pakistan’s IMO team under the STEM Career Program—a joint initiative of HEC and PIEAS.
✅ This achievement highlights the strength of our mathematical training programs and the potential of our students to excel on the global stage.
✅ Originally from Karachi, Pakistan, Mr. Sualeh represented the country in the International Math Olympiad (IMO) from 2016 to 2018. He was trained at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. In college, he started an AI-powered search engine company.

Since 2014, the Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Office of International Activities in Mathematics at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, has been actively involved in IMO training. Over the years, more than 40 training camps have been organized, reaching over 1,000 students, including 55 who went on to participate in the IMO.
This effort has been led by Prof. Dr. Sarfraz Ahmad (Coordinator NMTC), Dr. Hani Shaker (Deputy Coordinator NMTC), along with other dedicated trainers from the department. Their continued work as organizers and mentors has played a key role in building and sustaining this national initiative.
Overall, this work reflects a strong commitment to supporting young talent, where consistent mentorship and institutional efforts come together to promote excellence and strengthen the country’s future.
